More Cases For Our Instruments
Funded Nov 10, 2021We are a title 1 school with limited resources. Many of our instruments play well but are old. The cases are in pretty bad shape with loose latches and musty smells. Some kids are afraid of taking their instruments home because of fear that the instrument will fall out of the cases while on their way home. With new cases, kids are now taking their instruments home and right on time for the winter break.
One kid in particular was so happy that his trumpet received a new case because he could now take the trumpet to other district groups without the fear of the trumpet falling out of its case.
I am grateful for all of the help my programs have gotten so far. We still need to upgrade many things and will probably need more cases.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021With more (close to full size) keyboards available, I can now offer these keyboard to students wanting to take them home to practice. About half of my students do not have the financial ability to have a keyboard at home to practice. These keyboards are for home practice only and the students are able to keep them at home for the entire school year.
The boxes arrived two days ago and I had already two students ask for them, come and pick them up after school. Prior to this, these students were using tiny (toy like) keyboards that were very limited. The student's eyes just glowed when they came in after school on Friday with a huge smile to pick up a keyboard that will help them improve in the piano class and why not?, just have fun playing the piano.
The new piano classes have been a popular class addition to our music program. We currently only have enough keyboards in the class for 16 students but with generous people like you, we will be adding 4 more keyboards into the classroom soon.”

Funded May 20, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity. It has been about 13 years since our school has had new uniforms and the last set was not taken care of well. It has been about 4 years in the making trying to get these new uniforms.
The order of new pants and shakos (hats) came in before we were expecting them. My students and I were so happy to see that our uniforms were finally going to be complete! We were able to start using the new materials in our 3rd football game this year. My students were happy to be using the newer and more comfortable uniforms during our last game that was earlier than before and the weather was a lot warmer.
We will be showing off our uniforms to a broader audience in our upcoming Holiday parade in about a month's time. We still need more pants for current and future band members but at this point we are doing fine. My dream of getting these kids newer and better uniforms has come true in part thanks to you.”

Funded Jul 20, 2021We ended up getting one cart with other supplies because the original carts were unavailable when the project was funded. The one cart that we did receive has been in use almost every single day.
My student did not understand what it was that was taking me a while to build the day the cart arrived. Once I finished putting together the cart my students and I were thankful for the easiness of moving our chairs in and outside the classroom. At this point we are using it to take out chairs for our students to use while eating outside since they are not allowed inside during lunch and after school.
We will need at least one more cart in order to help stack and store our chairs when not in use and when we have concerts to move them into the auditorium. We are grateful for the supplies that we have received.”

Funded Jul 23, 2021This year will be our piano lab's first full year in person. Many students do not have the means to have a keyboard at home to practice. Having some keyboards available for them to take home has given my students the opportunity to better succeed in class.
These keyboards were the first to leave our shelves when the students had the opportunity to take them home. It was great seeing their eyes when they saw what was available for them for home practice.
I will probably ask for more keyboards but just a few to have more available for more students. At this point we are doing well. Almost all of the students are excited to be in the class and learn something new. Because of the generous people like you, I am able to offer great things to my students.”

Funded Jul 20, 2021I am always looking for ways to keep the music program running with the limited funding that we currently receive. These new cases will help keep our instruments safe in order for them to last for many years to come.
The biggest impact that our current students are able to see are with the new alto sax and trumpet cases. When one of our students opened a trumpet case, the latch just fell off. We knew that it was truly time to replace the case. The alto Sax cases were old and dirty of the many years they had been in use.
We still need more cases but we are grateful for what we have received so far.”

Funded Feb 28, 2019Thank you for your generosity in providing new and badly needed cases for our very old instruments. We finally have new cases for almost every trombone in our inventory. Many of our cases were literately falling apart. Some were easily noticeable and some were not until one opens the case and everything falls apart.
My students in the advanced band were the most excited about getting new cases since they are the ones who use the instruments the most either for practicing or during their many performances at athletic games. One student in particular had the worst case but is the quietest in the band and would not complain. When he got a new case for his trombone, one could see the happiness in his eyes. This kid could be quiet but is one of my best trombonist.
We are currently starting a new year and over the summer many of the instruments through donations, received new cases. The advanced band will be preparing for marching season and many sporting events. The music program just opened a new keyboard/piano class. Things are looking up for the small music program.”

Funded Nov 27, 2018Many of our instruments are very old and were in need of new cases in hope that the instruments last longer. Two of our trombone player were unable to take their instrument home because of the cases could suddenly open up and the cases were very heavy. Some flute, clarinet and violin cases were falling apart. With these new cases my students are confident that their instruments are safe in and outside of the classroom.
All of the student who received a new case were happy to know that someone cared enough to get them new cases. When we started to receive boxes, some students would stay after school to see if they were lucky enough to get the new cases.
My next step is to acquire more instruments to be able to offer more choices to my students. We will be asking for new chairs for the choir class to be able to accommodate a music theory as well as a guitar class in the same space in the near future.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018Thank you for supporting my students. Now that we have new bass drum and snare drum harnesses, my students have a more comfortable time carrying their drums to the performances we may have. My students don't have to be ashamed of having mismatched harnesses that are taped together made up of different parts. The drum set is finally complete with the new cymbals and it is getting used.
When the cymbals and harnesses arrived my students couldn't wait to try them on. We remembered that harnesses needed to be adjusted and tightened. Last year we got one harness and the instrument fell because we were unaware that it needed to be tightened. On the day after my students brought out the drum set and put the cymbals on and started playing them. First they took pictures of them.
This music program needs so much because over decades it has not been kept up. Little by little and with the help of generous people like you, I will organize and modernized the program in order to offer the best for my students. We need many cases and instruments. We need music chairs, desks and sheet music. In the mean time I will work with what for people like you are able to help me with.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for helping me acquire the 60 chairs my students needed. These chairs have made a big difference in the playing posture of my instrumental students. They now are able to sit correctly with more ease. The sound that comes out of my students is better than before. Because of the proper posture, my students are able to breath correctly while playing. All of my students are currently using these chairs.
When we first received the shipment my students couldn't believe that we actually got the chairs. My advanced students tried them and instantly liked them.
My original project was for way more chairs and desk attachments for some for the two rooms I currently use. The next step will be to try and acquire 40 more chairs with arm desks for the other room my students currently use.”
