• A Colorful Classroom

  You are all heroes! Thank you so much for your donation toward ink cartridges for my kindergarten team, and their classrooms. You have helped over 100 kindergarten children.

  Students in kindergarten are often very visual learners, especially the majority of the students in my class who are ESL learners. Kindergarten teachers spend a lot of the day teaching small groups of students. The children need colorful charts and pictures to help them to understand and complete their work.

  Kindergarten is the foundational grade. It is critical that we get, and keep the kids motivated in the early grades. My learners are so excited when they get support materials in color. They also really love it when they see their own work printed in color.

• Kindergarten in Color!

  Thank you so much for the color printer and copier for class K225. Kindergarteners need many hands on learning tools that are much more effective when they are in color.

  Most New York City public school teachers have very limited access to printers at all, let alone a printer or copier in color. We usually have to make these copies at our home, or pay for them to do be made.

  The children in my class that have learning disabilities, like difficulty focusing, really love this new technology. It is much easier to concentrate when a handout is given in color.

  In fact, we are sharing this printer/copier with the entire kindergarten. So your donation is going even further!

• Oops... Now We Need a Projector!

  My students were able to see the work were doing projected on the screen. They could see as their friends were writing and how they solved problems. Other students could interact with that student as they shared.

  The students with a visual learning style really responded to this technology. Some children can not take in the information if it is just presented verbally. They need the visuals to support their learning

  It is most exciting to see and share their own work projected. They love sharing with their classmates.”

• Grade One Needs Technology! Help Us!

  Dear Donors,

  I want to thank you all so much for your generous donations. Your donations have allowed my class to get a beautiful brand new ELMO document camera. We have bee using our new document camera for a few months now, and it is fantastic.

  In our classroom we use the ELMO to project lessons onto a screen in front of the room. When a classroom is filled to the brim with 35 children it is very hard for all of the children to see the material that we are working with. Also, when a classroom is so packed with young students it takes a lot of precious time to move too often. All of this moving around and bumping into each other can cause conflicts. With our new ELMO we can do some of our lessons from out seats with our materials at our desks. This way I can model what I want the students to do, and they can see exactly what I am doing.

  My kids are super excited about this new technology. One of my more challenging students has really taken to it. He has finally begun participating in some lessons. When I called his mom the other day, she told me that he had been talking to her about how I had gotten the document reader and how much he like it. That made my day...it really is the little things.

  So in conclusion, your donation may have not seemed like a huge thing to you, but to me and my students it meant the world. It has also opened the door to the discussion of philanthropy with my kids. Hopefully one day they will pay it forward...that is priceless!”
