  • Exciting Spanish Books in Our Classroom Library

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

These books have been so impactful for my students. Thank you so much for making it possible for my students to have access to more highly engaging books in Spanish.

This year I am teaching 4th and 5th graders in a dual immersion Spanish program. For my students whose first language is Spanish, these books satisfy their desire to read books in their home language. For those students who are learning Spanish as a second language, the Spanish graphic novels in this collection provide them with rich language and support from the illustrations--it's a perfect match.

Thank you so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness. My students and I are so grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • Bring Us Books to Love!

    Funded Mar 12, 2023

Yay for more books! Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. I know that my students will be positively impacted by these books. When I opened the box to take out the books, there was a gasp of astonishment. They were so excited. We got so many books that we have been waiting for. I saw one of my reluctant readers reach over a hug the new CatKid comic by Day Pilkney.

    Now that is love.

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and thoughtfulness. I am so grateful. And I know that my students feel the same way.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • Bringing Dreams Into Real Life: 3D Printer for 4th Graders

    Funded Dec 12, 2022

3D printers are so cool! I'm sure you already knew that--which is why you felt compelled to donate to our project. Thank you so much for bringing this into our classroom. My students love the 3D printer, which we have named 3D Magic. So perfect!

When we first got 3D Magic, each of my students got to print one thing of their choice. (Actually, we first printed something for Ms. V., our school counselor, for her birthday--it was their idea. So thoughtful. She was thrilled. They were thrilled. It was amazing.) Now that my students have all printed their object of choice, they get to use coupons purchased from our classroom economy. It's just so cool.

I think this is one of the most exciting and interesting projects I've had filled on Donorschoose. Thank you so much for being a part of it.”

  • Stem Love: Robots, Puzzles and Collaboration!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Hi! Let me tell you a story. A couple of years ago my husband built me a short table for my classroom. It was a perfect size for puzzles and the perfect height so that students could sit comfortably on the ground to do their puzzling. And it has worked so well for many years. This year my students have proven to be avid puzzlers--they love it! I often see them crouched over the little table in solemn concentration. It's lovely to see. And I decided that we needed some new puzzles--with a nature scene. And you have sent us lovely puzzles. They're perfect. Thank you! My students are having a great time.

We've also enjoyed the ring robots (so cool!) and the other materials. Thank you so much for making all these great activities and opportunities for collaboration a part of our classroom. Thank you for your amazing generosity!”

  • Winter STEM Exploration and Engagement!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

YAY! You are AMAZING! And winter is amazing (kind of)! And snow is amazing (during our STEM exploration time)! And the sleds you provided are absolutely amazing. I am not exaggerating to tell you that these sleds have brought our students together. Because of these sleds our students have learned the value of physics (velocity and slope), sharing, organizing, communicating, listening and having fun in our snowy environment. We have had so much fun and so much learning. Thank you for making it possible.

We have also enjoyed and learned so much from the building blocks and other materials. Thank you for providing us with so many awesome supplies.”

  • Hearing Our Lessons Loud and Clear

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Yay! We totally needed these headphones. My students are able to complete their work with better focus and for the assignments that include a listening portion, they are able to hear what they need to. We use the headphones during math, writing, reading stations and testing. They also loved getting their own individual earphones (though, they prefer to use the large ones). Thank you so much for making this possible and for showing my students how much people care about them and their education. Thank you for your great generosity.”

  • Healthy Snacks for Healthy Kids

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

These snacks have made the biggest difference in our day. Thank you so much. My students look forward to our snack every time we have it. Having snacks together also promotes a strong classroom community and since we vote for what snacks to have on what days, my students know that their voice is being heard. They have also been trying new things--and enjoying them, like rice cakes and fruit leathers. It's rather fun to see their reactions to new flavors and their enthusiasm to try them again. Thank you so much for your generosity and giving us this opportunity.”

  • Essential Supplies to Start a New Year!

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and thoughtfulness towards my students. These materials have been so helpful this year--I am so grateful for all the special things you've made possible for my classroom. We received smencils (smelly pencils) and the little building block animal kits for birthday presents. The women scientists postcards have made a very impressive and beautiful door display, which blows me away every day. There are also some necessities which are never very glamorous, but always needed--like pencils and dry erase markers.

The thing I am most excited about, however, are the mini art frames. This is my first year at my new school and there is a very interesting architectural element in our room. In my classroom there is a very strange hole in the wall, maybe it is an air vent or maybe it was a coal shoot (probably not that one), and when I first saw it I puzzled over what I could do with that space. These mini art frames have provided the perfect solution: a mini art gallery. My students love it--and so do I! The little doll house furniture and my students original art work. It's wonderful and a great way to build community in my classroom. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

  • Questioneers: We Are Scientists & Architects and So Much More

    Funded Nov 17, 2022

These books have been such a great addition to our classroom library. I've seen a couple of my female students devouring the Ada Twist chapter books. I know that these books are accessible to them and interesting for them to read--and that makes me so happy. I hope that they are inspired by stories of female scientists and can appreciate their own big brains.

We have also had a lot of fun admiring the Ada Twist doll. She is so perfect. I love her outfit and accessories and her beautiful hair. The other day we had a guest in our room and they were so proud to show off Ada Twist.

Thank you so much for making this possible. Your generosity and thoughtfulness has given us a new friend and new books for our library. Thank you!”

  • Osmo for Brilliant Mathematicians

    Funded Oct 14, 2022

This is brilliant! We received our new Osmo games yesterday and put them to the test this morning. Result = they were a hit. My students loved our new, engaging math technology and they loved the challenge of figuring out the new games. I know that these new Osmo games will make our math rotations smoother and my mathematicians' mathematical minds more nimble (say that ten times fast). Thank you so much for your generosity. I'm so excited to see how my students grow while using these materials. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis
