  • A Kids Book About...

    Funded Jan 16, 2024

These books came at the perfect time. Thank you! The "Kids Book About" books that you have donated to our classroom are going to make the biggest difference to my students and our community. One of my students is reading "A Kids Book About Adopting a Pet"--"it's so good, Mrs. Solis; my family is getting a turtle." It's like music to a teacher's ear.

Books about Pride, voting, war, anxiety, banned books and adopting a pet will support us and our big and varied emotions as we experience continue to grow as 4th and 5th graders and as human beings. These books are relevant and important. Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • Coolest Homework Ever: Science Experiments at Home

    Funded Dec 7, 2023

This was AMAZING! My students loved completing this fun, interactive homework. And I loved sending it home with them--knowing that it would engage my students in learning at home, get families (and siblings) working together and provide a load of fun. These goals were achieved and then some. It was so wonderful to hear students report their learning, results and experiences (that way we could practice our public speaking too). And students loved hearing about other projects. It was a great community builder as well as amazing science learning. Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • Cozy Hot Chocolate Party For Awesome 4th And 5th Graders!

    Funded Apr 19, 2024

This project (and the ensuing hot chocolate party) was a huge success! We thoroughly enjoyed the hot chocolate, vegan marshmallows and reading the books together--it was the ideal experience of coziness for our class. My class works so hard, everyday, in academics, social emotional skills and teamwork. I am so proud of them and the progress they've made. It's so nice to be able to reward them with a lovely, cozy party like the one we had. And everyone was able to fully enjoy all of the supplies because we ordered the vegan marshmallows. Thank you for being so thoughtful to my students.”

    Mrs. Solis

  • Activities to Grow Our Brains: STEM for 4th and 5th

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you so much for donating these amazing materials to our classroom. We are so grateful to have access to more Spanish and language-centered games. And the use of new watercolor paints. We use our games and paints all the time and it has truly helped us build a stronger community. Thank you for believing in my students enough to support us with these beautiful new materials. We have grown in our understanding and use of language and our understanding of ourselves. Thank you for making this possible.”

  • Snacks to Encourage Deep Learning

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

My students are working so hard in school. They love the challenges and joys that come with all our hard work. And they really love their snacks. Goldfish crackers, fruit leathers and seaweed--snacks are now a part of their daily routines and expectations. I'm so grateful to be able to provide my students with this food--it fills their bellies, focuses their minds and brings them joy. Thank you for making this possible and thank you for your incredible generosity--without you this would not be possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • Engaging Books for Amazing 5th Grade Readers

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

Thank you for this incredible gift of books and pictures and experiences. My students love reading, and above all they love reading graphic novels. It takes a lot of books to fan the flames of excitement for books and I am so grateful that my students have these new books to stay excited for reading.

Because of your support for our classroom library, my students have access to new and engaging books for our daily dose of independent reading. Amulet 9 has been as big a hit as expected--I love seeing my students so engaged in reading. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

  • Making our Classroom Cozy and Bright

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

You are AMAZING! Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. We love our new, cozy classroom--the lights, the pillows and the decorations. It's been such a cute and cozy update to our collective space. When you come into our classroom now, it is so welcoming and inviting and I know that my students love it (I asked them). The lights are particularly fun--the jellyfish lamp created quite a stir amongst the other teachers in the building--so many people wanted one after seeing it. The fox pillow has also been a great hit with my students during Independent Reading--it's a great companion.

Thank you so much for making this happen!”

It takes a lot of books to fan the flames of excitement for books and I am so grateful that my students have these new books to stay excited for reading.

Because of your support for our classroom library, my students have access to new and engaging books for our daily dose of independent reading. The new additions to our Bad Guy series and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series were particularly desirable. Thank you for making this possible.”

  • Books to Build Our Brains 2: Science and History Comics

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

You are AMAZING! Two weeks ago we opened the boxes together. There were many gasps and cheers as I pulled out the "Unsolved Cases" series and the "I Survived" series (very popular books in my class). The requested books of the Guinness Book of World Records and the Dragon Masters Series got the biggest reactions. There were so many students hopeful to read a book first--almost all of my students saw a book in the boxes that interested them. Now that the books are on our shelves, they have been devoured by my students.

Thank you for your incredible generosity. My students have benefitted so much from the addition of these books to our shelves. Thank you for making that possible. Thank you for providing the materials we need to be excited about reading. Thank you for believing in my students!”

  • These Books Are Poppin': Pop-Up Books for Excited 4th Graders!

    Funded Oct 9, 2023

    "Teacher, can I read a pop-up book?"

    "Hey, did you see this?"

    "Wow, this is so cool!"

My students love the pop-up books that you have given us. This is the kind of experience that many of my students can't have at home--pop-up books are just too expensive. But, with your generous help, we now have them at school--and it's been an incredible experience. My students are interacting with books in a new way--looking at them differently, reading them differently and enjoying them so much.

Some of these pop-up books are engineering marvels and I'm so excited to see what my students create the further we get into this project.

Thank you for your incredible generosity and bringing these pop-up books to our classroom. We are inspired and delighted. Thank you!!!”
