  • 5th Grade Mad Scientists!

    Funded Dec 14, 2017

Yeah! This is awesome! We have been receiving our science kits over the last three days--and my students are totally pumped! When I first explained that the idea was for each of them to take one home to conduct experiments with their families and report back, I got a couple of groans ("more homework!"). But, when I started unloading the kits from the box those groans turned to gasps and shrieks. "We get to take them home?" "They're ours to keep?" "I want that one." "Oh, slime. Eeeee!" They are, in a word, pumped! So excited!

I know that this is gong to be an incredible opportunity for my students. There is something for everyone's area of interest--it's hands down the best homework assignment I might ever give.

Thank you for making this possible. We would never have the chance to do something like this without your generosity. I am so pleased and humbled by you and that you made the choice to support us. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Solis

  • OSMO for Creative Problem-Solving, Math and Reading

    Funded Dec 20, 2017

Every eye in the classroom was laser-focused on the four students taking part in setting up our new Osmo. It got here yesterday, but today we decided to make it a part of our math rotations and it was so thrilling! We were using the math game included in the Genius Kit and the Pizza Company Game. When they finished one student remarked to me: "This was fun!" This is going to be a great addition to our Guided Math rotations.

My students are budding mathematicians and they are super engaged by hands-on activities and technology--so awesome that this combines all of those features! Thank you so much for putting the Osmo games in our classroom, we will surely benefit for many years to come.”

  • Growing Engineers!

    Funded Nov 28, 2017

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We have been enjoying your donation almost every day. My students receive some free time in the mornings and most of them choose to use the Laser Maze, the Balance Beans or the Penguins on Ice. It is so amazing to watch my 5th graders practice using different parts of their brains. Having these opportunities to practice their engineering skills using easily-accessible materials and activities boosts my students' confidence and their stamina for learning. Thank you for providing us with these great activities.

We spend a lot of time in our classroom building community and working together--these engineering activities and materials reinforce our bond as a classroom. The students' excitement to work with our new engineering materials is palpable. We can't thank you enough for your support and generosity.”

  • Keep Active Learners Well Watered

    Funded Oct 20, 2017

These water bottles are the answer to a dream. My students are hydrated and focused on their work, and it's because you have given us these water bottles. Aside from the obvious health benefits to having water close at hand, my students also feel like someone out there cares about them and their well-being. That is priceless. We also love the cool colors and the little details on the bottle (like the little ring to hold the bottle). And no longer are my students going back and forth between class and the water fountain to hydrate, now they can do it in our classroom. This has been a truly successful project, and I am very grateful. Thank you!”

  • Movin' and Groovin' at Recess

    Funded Jul 11, 2017

Recess is one of the most important parts of the day! We rejuvenate, recalibrate and renew our spirits, our minds and our bodies. Because of your generosity my students have more options and more fun during our recess time.

I completely believe that children need to exercise their bodies in order to exercise their brains. Our 30 minutes outside are crucial to the success of our day. When we come back from recess my students have the look of success on their faces--and that's priceless, in my opinion. Thank you for giving us the tools for success.”

  • Let's Read: Culturally Responsive Books for 5th Graders!

    Funded Aug 23, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity in filling this project.

We have a lot of awesome books in our library, but so often it is a challenge for students to find books about people who look like them. I am so privileged to work in an urban, multi-cultural school and it is my belief that my students should have access to books that mirror their own diverse experiences. With your generosity, we were able to have those books in our library. We used these books in a variety of ways: students chose to read them during Independent Reading and we used them in our guided literature circles, in which they could read and discuss ideas and characters with their peers.

This has been a great experience for all of us. Thank you!”

  • Let's Read More: Engaging Graphic Novels for Great Readers!

    Funded Jul 3, 2017

Books are the cornerstone of any classroom. Because of your generous donation, the cornerstone in my classroom is so much stronger. 5th grade is a crucial year in a child's education--in this precious year before teenager-hood, my students will define themselves as readers...or not. Well, with beautiful new books that are interesting and fun--I think we've got 'em hooked. My students are definitely hooked on books.

I love to catch my students reading a book, secreted underneath their desks--it's one of my favorite teacher moments. I know that they are becoming stronger readers with every day and every page. It's the generosity of you donors that makes this possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Let's Read: Awesome Books for 5th Grade Readers!

    Funded Jun 20, 2017

Thank you so much for these awesome books! My students love reading and they love being able to make choices about what they want to read. That means I have a great teacher challenge = to provide copies of books that my students want to read. And with your help I can! These books flew off the shelves the very day I added them. In fact, school is over for the year, and I still haven't seen some of the books--but, I know that they are being read and shared and loved, and that they'll probably come back next year. I feel so grateful for your generosity and helping me get books that my students want to read.

    Thank you!”

  • Opera Sings to Us: Greek Myths for Modern Kids

    Funded Jul 20, 2017

This is awesome! We are going to be so prepared and enthused about our trip to the Minnesota Opera's production of the Odyssey with these graphic novels and books. As our school is a performing arts magnet it is so important that we have access to a variety of arts, like music and opera. These books will give us all the background information that we need to enjoy and understand the opera. And, besides seeing the opera, we will be writing our own songs with the help of writers and artists from the Minnesota Opera--we've decided to write our songs about the Odyssey--so these books are perfect for so many parts of our year. Thank you so much for being a part of our arts learning! You have made a difference in our classroom.”

  • STEAM Ahead: Art Supplies to Let Us Soar!

    Funded Jul 20, 2017

Art inspires achievement. That is our schools' motto and belief. Teachers at our school integrate art into everything--science, reading, math and social studies. In order to do that we need materials. My class is so grateful that we have such beautiful materials thanks to you. The paints are a big hit, as are the stamps. And I can't wait to try the scratch color pads--they look so cool!

My students are artists and musicians and creative thinkers--these STEAM materials let us reach our best potential and achieve our most highest academic thinking. Thank you.”
