• Healthy Snacks and Healthy Books for Healthy Kids

  Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. My students have loved these snacks. On many days these snacks saved our grumbly stomachs from distracting us from our work. Snack time has become a very important landmark to our day's journey. It has also been important in building our classroom community. Many of these snacks gave my students a new experience with new flavors--so much fun! I also sent a bunch of snacks home with my students during our recent venture back into Online Learning. The students were very grateful and excited to have those snacks at home.

• Art Projects and Sticker Books for Building Classroom Community

  Yes! These paint-by-sticker books are AWESOME! I had kept these books hidden for a few days after the packages arrived. Then, last Monday, I pulled them out before our Percy Jackson read aloud, and put them out on the table. I heard an audible gasp through the room as the kids spied our new activity. As I invited them to pick out their book of choice, it was so delightful to watch them peruse through the images and carefully weigh their different options (three, in all). They were over the moon. I could see their happiness in all the color, cool pictures and the challenge.

• Caution! Scientists at Work

  "Destroy This Book" has been a completely AMAZING experience for my class! We have been in Online Learning this week and will continue next week. To be honest, it was hard to hear last week that we would be online again; so, I thought long and hard about what activities I could send home to make our time online as joyful as our in-person learning. These activity books were the perfect solution! The activities are fun, engaging and include a science lesson. Today we did the turtle one--about surface tension on water--and it was so fun and instructive. We have benefitted so much from these books. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

• STEM Love: Robots and LEGOs

  These robots have brought so much joy to our classroom. Thank you so much for your generous donations and incredible thoughtfulness. We have enjoyed using our new robots very much. The Dot and Dash are very exciting--Dash even plays music on a xylophone, so cool! The hexbugs have brought us a lot of exciting learning as well. With these two types of robots (and some others that we've collected over the years) have taught us different ways of coding--a skill extremely relevant to our world today. Working with the robots has also given us an opportunity to practice sharing and cooperation.

• High Interest Graphic Novels for Our Classroom Library

  Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. We love books in our classroom--everyday we have 30 minutes of independent reading. Studies have shown that kids who select their own books and are given uninterrupted time will improve their reading skills and, more importantly, more likely fall in love with reading. Giving this opportunity to my students is one of my most important teacher goals. Thank you for giving us this chance.

  The books in this project were meant to provide for the reading needs of my most struggling readers--but the appealing illustrations and inherent humor in these books have grabbed the attention of all of my students. And I see my students who need these books the most reaching for them over and over again (without any embarrassment). I can hear the giggles from my students as they gobble up the Elephant and Piggie books we now have in our library--a whole set. These books are already making such a big difference for my students. Thank you for your generosity.”

• Graphic Novels to Whet Our Reading Appetites

  These books and my students--they are inseparable. They love the books in this project--the books are fun, modern and goofy--like my students. It's perfect, really. Thank you for considering and donating to a book project--our library is really the cornerstone of our classroom.

  There are other locations where my students can access books (public library, school library and their homes)--but our classroom library is communally ours, well-stocked, cozy and filled with friends--I think that makes it unique. This is particularly meaningful after the last two years. Thank you for making this possible with your generous donations. We are so grateful and excited to continue to read and love these books.”

• Water Bottles For Active 4th Graders

  Funded Sep 24, 2021

  These water bottles are the answer to a dream. My students are hydrated and focused on their work, and it's because you have given us these water bottles. Aside from the obvious health benefits to having water close at hand, my students also feel like someone out there cares about them and their well-being. That is priceless.

  We love the cool colors and awesome stickers. I also appreciate how narrow the neck of the bottles are--it means for much fewer spills in our classroom. And no longer are my students going back and forth between class and the water fountain to hydrate, now they can do it in our classroom. This has been a truly successful project, and I am very grateful. Thank you!”
