Just Paper! Pencils! and More!
Funded Nov 17, 2022Thank you donors! Your generosity has provided my students with many basic materials that will make the successful learners. My students have created many written assignments using notebooks and copy paper. Their work is mounted on colorful construction paper and hangs throughout our classroom giving my students an increased sense of pride and a desire to continue working hard knowing their work is valued.
My students were very excited and couldn't wait to get started using all the new materials and can't wait to begin their next project. Everyone gets to choose the color paper they want to mount their writing and math work on to display around the room.
We are beginning an animal research project where my students will write their own nonfiction books after they study an animal. They can't wait to get started and publish. Thank you for your support!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020My students benefitted greatly from the books and IPAD we received. They were so excited to have lots of reading material at their individual levels, and that made them want to read more and more, which of course made them better readers!
The IPAD definitely made an impact. During our animal research unit, my students were very eager to learn about their chosen animal. They had so many questions that weren't always answered in their books, so the IPAD was invaluable in getting them answers. Students were also enthusiastic to share their learning with their classmates, which made them teachers as well.
I really appreciate being able to give my students materials that made a difference in their learning this year. Thank you!”

Funded May 5, 2020Thank you so much for helping me transform my dull dining room table into an exciting place for remote learning. Having a white board and manipulatives to teach with was extremely useful in all subject areas - reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The white board gave my first grade students a focal point for all their lessons and kept them engaged throughout remote learning. Watching the caterpillars grow and go through metamorphosis generated so much excitement in my students. They would frequently ask for video updates on how their caterpillars were doing. Although we didn't have our classroom, you provided our virtual classroom with the materials and tools my students needed to feel like we were in school.
I am ever so grateful for your support of my students and our virtual classroom.”

Funded Nov 22, 2019Having ink for our printer made a world of difference for my students. There have been so many applications - students are able to print out photos to enhance their nonfiction writing, we printed out materials for science learning - to make cloud viewers, learn about the life cycle of the seeds we planted, and we created games and materials to teach and practice math skills.
First graders are very hands-on, visual learners. so having colorful materials increases their engagement in activities a great deal. When something is printing, students gather around the printer waiting to see what is going to come out. I don't even need to ask, they take the materials and distribute them.
I really appreciate being able to give my students valuable learning experiences that keep them engaged and wanting to learn more. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 3, 2018My students' learning has been impacted a great deal by having ink in our printer again. Students are using it to collect information and print pictures for their nonfiction animal research books, create their science journals on animal diversity, and print math and word study games to use in class and bring home to practice math skills with their families. We are reading nonfiction texts and students have observed that these books often use real pictures. We are inserting real pictures into their animal research writing, which truly makes them feel like they are professional authors. My students are taking their projects so seriously, they actually ask me if they can please have more writing time!
The students in my class are very excited about learning and having a wide range of materials available truly helps support their different learning styles, interests, and needs. I really appreciate your generosity in helping to supply the materials needed to enrich our classroom.”

Funded Sep 14, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our Color Printer. Having technology available for our young readers has a tremendous impact. It gives them access to a wide range of materials that would otherwise be beyond their reading level, enabling them to learn about any topic they are interested in. The printer allows students to find information to support their nonfiction writing research projects, and also get pictures and diagrams for their reports to illustrate their thinking. Our students are so excited to write every day and I'm thrilled to be able to give them the materials that they need to expand their thinking and writing skills. We have also been able to create math games and learning materials that are targeted to our students' needs. We continue to find new ways to use our printer as a learning tool. We really appreciate having it!”

Our Printer Has Run Dry
Funded Aug 1, 2017Our students were so excited to see our printer come back to life! When we turned it on they started clapping! They love being able to insert photos and clip art into their "published" books and make copies to share with friends and family. It's great to see my students look forward to writing and declare, "It's my favorite thing to do."
We are currently working on writing stories from our lives. Our printer is very helpful when we're fixing mistakes or trying to make our work better. We make a copy of the original work and then we perform "surgery" (cutting out parts we want to get rid of and/or cutting in to add details) to edit it and compare the new version to the original. The students love the idea of doing surgery on their work and don't realize they're actually editing.
When we get to animal research a little later in the year, students will really get lots of use from the printer ink. They will now be able to add photos, diagrams, and clip art to make their books about animals look like the books they are reading. Our class is truly appreciative of your generosity in helping to make our students feel very proud of the books they author! Thank you.”

Math Lab Fun
Funded Jan 26, 2016Thank you so much! With your generosity we have been able to set up Math Lab Fun. The color printer, card stock, and spinners allow me to create engaging board games and activities that the students can work on independently. When they go to the Lab they have a choice of many activities that will build their mathematical thinking, sharpen their skills, and make math fun rather than a drill. Students are enthusiastic about going to the lab and making their own choices of games. At our recent parent-teacher conferences many parents commented how their children are telling them that they "love math." I'm already seeing an impact with students that were struggling in math, gaining confidence as they strengthen their skills and apply them with ease. You have made a impact on our children and we truly appreciate your kindness.”
