My Kids Need Soap and Shoes!
Funded Sep 15, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your support. Because of your donation, we were able to supply a large number of families with soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. We were also able to give several kids brand new shoes! As you probably know, items like toiletries are very expensive and are often not covered through public assistance programs. Kids who come to school with dirty clothes or without brushing their teeth regularly are at a disadvantage because they are often not ready to learn because they are distracted by hygiene issues or toothaches. Your kindness is appreciated more than you will ever know! Besides giving away emergency supplies like this to families we know are in need, we were also able to purchase 150 toothbrushes to give away to every person who came to our holiday gift event. We will continue to distribute other supplies as needed throughout the year! Your donation has touched so many lives, and will continue to do so.”

Funded Mar 8, 2017Your generosity goes farther than you might think. Our community is experiencing a sudden increase in the cost of living, and the families of our students cannot afford basic needs that they were previously able to purchase without trouble.
Rent increases and evictions have really created difficulties that cause our students to have unnecessary stressors in their lives. By donating to this project, you helped ease the worries of these students and their families. No child should have to come to school embarrassed because their parents are not able to wash their clothes, and no child should feel hungry because there is not enough food over the weekend.
Thanks to you, our kids have new toothbrushes, as well as plenty of soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent.

Funded Feb 7, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations that helped fund a wonderful new program at our school that provides families with basic needs that they would otherwise be unable to buy. EBT benefits only cover food, and we all know that families need cleaning products, toothpaste, laundry detergent, and soap to make sure their kids are feeling their best when they come to school. Providing families with these items may not seem like a huge deal, but it makes a world of difference. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”

Funded Dec 31, 2016I cannot even begin to explain how much our school community appreciates your generosity. Many of our students lack basic necessities, and items like backpacks are low on the priority list for a lot of parents because of more pressing needs. All of our kids deserve high-quality, durable backpacks, and being able to give students backpacks that will last is a gift that goes a lot further than you might realize. Now, our students don't need to worry about books and papers falling while they're waiting for the bus, they don't need to worry about broken zippers, and they can take home weekend food resources without having to juggle bags and boxes.

Counseling Room Revamp!

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for your donations. Because of you and DonorsChoose, I was able to purchase awesome, fun, and useful materials for my counseling office. It is really looking great!
Thanks to you, we have bean bag chairs in our "conference room" area, which is decorated with great safari animal posters also acquired because of your donation. The area makes kids feel comfortable and at home when they are cooling down after feeling angry, or talking through sad or hard times. It is also a great place for kids to take a quiet break when they know they will be more successful in class if they have some time to themselves.
The Duplo blocks and multi-colored block sets are a HUGE hit. I use these materials when working through problems with kids (it's a lot easier for them to talk when they have something to manipulate with their hands!). The multi-racial skin tone markers are perfect for our wonderfully diverse school, and the African American dollhouse dolls are a good addition to the dollhouse family.
I can't express enough how much I appreciate your donation. Because of your generosity, the 600 students at our school have had a better, more comfortable, and emotionally stable year!”
