Safe Snacks for All!
Funded Jan 17, 2025Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness. Our snack drawer is no longer empty and neither are our bellies! When we are hungry and unable to focus we get up and quietly walk to the drawer and take a snack. We are very grateful to have this opportunity to no longer feel hungry. We eat and then get right back on task and get to their learning again.
When I see my students get up and grab a quick snack I smile. They all smiled when I opened the boxes of snacks, but now it's my turn to smile. It makes me feel good to know that my students don't have to feel hungry because they may not have enough food to eat at home. It brings me great joy to know that so many people felt compelled to help others that may be less fortunate than themself. For that, I am thankful.”

Funded Aug 21, 2024Thank you so much for choosing to support my students. They were so excited to unwrap the dry erase boards and use them for the first time. The smiles on their faces said it all. They contnue to talk about all the new materials they have to use in the classroom.
The dry erase boards and markers allowed my students to complete their math work, specifically solve addition and subtraction facts by drawing fact families and writing number sentences. Having the erasers attached to the markers made it easier for students to manage the materials. They were able to erase quickly and then focus on solving each equation. In addition they now have a place to store their materials neatly in the wire mesh file organizer and easily transport them from one palce to antoher.
My students just began using their new notebooks and purple folders for their phonic lessons. My second graders switch classes to get individualized instruction to meet their needs. Since they are with other students on the grade we decided to color code their notebooks and folders for easy recognition. Thank you again for all your support!”

Funded Mar 1, 2017Thank you so much for bringing joy to my classroom. My students have been smiling because they now have new books they love to read. Each day they ask, can I bring this home. Because of your generosity I am able to say yes.
Through the non-fiction text my students are able to learn about the different text features such as the table of contents, photographs, captions, diagrams, and glossary in books they are able to read on their own. Many of my students are English Language Learners and have a limited English vocabulary. Through these books they are developing a larger vocabulary.
Each day my students participate in Reading Workshop with me doing a mini-lesson to teach a new skill. Then the students go back and complete an independent activity or group activity to practice the skill they learned. In addition they have time to read books on their level and of their choice. The boys especially love the non-fiction and Fly Guy books.”
