  • Bringing Diversity to Our Library!

    Funded Jul 7, 2020

I can not express how excited I am to start this school year with more books that represent a wide range of people in our world. I can't wait to see my students crack open these texts and experience these stories. Thank you so much for your donation and for helping me reach this goal!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Donisch

  • Students Itching to Collaborate Worldwide!

    Funded Oct 28, 2015

    Dear Donors,

Thank you again so much for your help! My students have greatly enjoyed the equipment that we purchased, and we have used it to enhance their learning. Our first project consisted of video conferencing with a college class. The students created a play that showed a famous activist in history. We were learning about government and their role, so we used these famous people to inspire us. Our college friends also made skits and we were able to perform them for each other on camera.

My students loved the opportunity to meet these college students and to share their work with them. We made sure that the kids worked on writing skills, and studied social studies topics with this project. They also had the opportunity to talk with college students and see that college is an opportunity for them. I had three students who were on my tech team, and they loved getting the chance to interact with the camera and other equipment. They are very interested in technology, so this was a chance to see something new.

We really appreciate your help, and we can't wait to see what our next project will do to help us grow as learners! Thanks again for donating.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Donisch

Every day when I walk into my classroom I get asked a million and one questions. Curiosity is rampant throughout our class and our school. My student's inquiring minds lead them to ask questions that would be better answered through experience. Being an active, and very talkative bunch, my kids are always ready to take on a challenge and engage in conversation with others. However, they struggle to see others' opinions and be open-minded. I believe the more they are challenged by people outside of their normal beliefs, the more they will learn. With many of my students coming from poverty they do not get the chance to interact with people from different cultures. 5th grade is a challenging year, and I know that many of my students have had struggles in their lives far beyond anything I could have imagined a ten year old going through. Still my students face the odds and work hard to not only please their teacher and their classmates, but more importantly make themselves proud.
