The students in my classroom have a wide range of disabilities, from autism to learning, communication, and behavior disorders. They desperately need access to research-based interventions that are highly engaging while providing multiple repetitions in order to solidify new skills. Typical students can require close to 100 repetitions before a skill is mastered and then require periodic revisiting in order to maintain that skill. These are the students who have struggled with learning their entire lives and sometimes don't have access to technology or homework support in the home. We currently have one consistently working laptop and one iPad for the entire class. I know that access to another iPad would make a tremendous impact by allowing students the opportunity to practice these newly acquired skills. Elementary is when attitudes toward school and learning are developed and is such an incredibly short window to create a life-long learner.
