We Want To Read Books Online!
Funded Oct 21, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation. The 3 tablets which I received are used daily by the 1st graders in my class. Our school recently purchased a license to an online reading program. This program is individualized based upon reading level. Some students do not have the technology available at home to access this program. These students use the tablets at school to practice their reading.
In addition to the reading program, the tablets are used to access other educational apps including reading, spelling, and math activities.
Another benefit of the tablets in the classroom is that they are used as an incentive for students to complete their classwork and/or follow classroom expectations.
Your kindness and support for public education are truly appreciated!”

Take Home Reading Library
Funded Mar 29, 2016This take home reading library is an excellent addition to the reading program in our classroom! Each week, the students take home a book (with a cd) to read with their family as part of their homework. The students keep track of their home reading on a weekly reading log.
This home reading library (with cds) is an excellent resource for students who don't have parents at home who read in English. Also, since students at our school can check out only 2 books per month from the school library, these extra books provide a better home reading experience.
Thank you so much for supporting early literacy! Your generosity is appreciated.”

iPad Project
Funded Mar 9, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation! We have been using the iPad in the classroom in a few different ways. One way is in a whole group setting. I have been projecting educational videos and websites onto the white board to enhance lessons. The bluetooth speaker makes it possible for all students to hear the audio. The children enjoy this and the use of technology helps to keep their attention.
Students have also been using the iPad on an individual basis. This is particularly beneficial for the students who are working below or above grade level because the educational apps we use have a variety of levels. I have also used the iPad to motivate certain students to complete their classwork as they can use the iPad when they are finished. The headphones are helpful because the student on the iPad is the only person who can hear the audio.
Thanks again for you kindness and support. My 1st grade students and I truly appreciate it!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Trickett
