We are a small rural, poor school in the state of South Carolina. Due to budget restraints, new furniture has been put on hold for many years. Although our principal has been generous as he can, new furniture is not a priority. I teach a total of eighty students in the eighth grade. My students are bright and want to learn. They are excited about this new year and acquiring new math skills that will prepare them for high school. Many of my students also talk about and plan to attend college. The purchase of these desks will create a more learning and welcoming environment where the students will feel their classroom is inviting and safe.
