Learning Doesn't Just Happen In Class
Funded Mar 10, 2021Thank you for donating an HP monitor for my class. During distance and hybrid learning, it allowed me to share multiple screens with my students. For those in-person, they were able to watch the work I did in class. For those at home, they were able to view my work along with additional resources I provided.
Having this extra monitor was like having an extra set of hands in the classroom. I didn't lose any momentum with my kids being in two different places.
Even though we've returned back to the classrooms, our monitor gets used to mirror anchor charts, sentence frames, and word walls. My students are extremely grateful that this technology was provided because it helps make they're learning more efficient.
Thank you again!!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019I am extremely grateful for your support in helping my students and I get our classroom iPad. With your help, it arrived just in time for the beginning of our fall semester. Since receiving the iPad, I have been able to incorporate technology in my lessons daily. I purchased an app that allows me to turn my PowerPoints into a digital presentation for my students. This is extremely beneficial for my visual learners because they can see what I'm teaching on the projector and online (for those students who like to learn at their own pace). The iPad allows for me to write with various colors and use animations to help students better understand what I'm teaching.
My students are still in awe that the lessons I teach in class can be recorded. This supports all my students because it gives them unlimited access to the learning that happened days and even months after me teaching it. These videos get posted to our class channel so all students have access even when not in school. Students also find it fascinating that I can upload their work and their classmates' work within seconds to do error analysis. Seeing their work on the screen gives them more confidence to do work and permission to learn from their work. What they love most is being able to use the iPad like me to share new information with the class. It became so popular that I had to create a system so that every student has a fair opportunity to use the iPad. I never get tired of seeing them light up when they get chosen to use it.
All this would not have been possible without your support. On behalf of all my 8th graders, thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Oduma
