Books for Our Hearts and Souls!

Thank you so much for choosing my class book list to fund! Our class is filled with students who love to read and with students who have yet to find their niche. Your donation has brought a variety of options and provided them with the opportunity to choose a book and take ownership of their learning.

In one of my classes, my students eagerly waited around the room to be called to their book club and gleefully joined their teams. They wanted to start reading immediately! I had to slow them down and make sure they established norms and understood the process before they could begin. I love seeing my students excited about books, and more importantly, take ownership of their learning.

These books will help my students both academically and socially. At their age, they need opportunities to take ownership of their own learning and go out of their comfort zones. Many of my students are working with students outside of their friend group because of their book choices. These books that you've funded are also giving them the opportunity to read books they are interested in and practice important literacy skills that will help them in all of their academic endeavors.
