  • Building Bridges Through Books

    My students have been enjoying the books you donated to our classroom. Everyday a student finishes their work and asks to grab a book to read. Because our class library is so diverse students were stocked of the diversity of the book selection and I've received so many comments regarding their shock and amazement . This brings them joy and hopefully brings you joy to know that you were apart of making this happen! This is just the beginning! I hope to add more books soon as students share what they hope to see in the library.”

  • Diverse Classroom Library

    Our class is enjoying the books we were able to secure because of your donation! They are enjoying STEM titles, African American history books, and good timeless tales. We are learning new vocabulary words and 100% of our class has even increased their reading level because of the continuous opportunity to read. Every time they finish class work early we dive into a book! We've even paired snack with with DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time. I've even had students ask me to order more books or the sequels to some of the collections. Thanks again!”

    This classroom project was brought to life by Central Alabama Community Foundation and 2 other donors.
Having access to these books will help to increase exposure to new vocabulary and excitement for the world of adventure new books bring. Our students have daily, required twenty minutes of reading but everyone doesn’t have access to the same quality of books. We want to make it easy to select and read books throughout the academic day when finished with class assignments. They also need books to take home and read for pleasure. Without a school library, our classroom library will be just the resource needed to increase literacy skills which is an essential skill for academic success. This library will help our fifth graders “meet” the world's best authors and hear stories that can help shape their world.

About my class
