Super Centers
Funded Dec 18, 2013My students were so thrilled with these resources. They absolutely loved the puzzles that you funded. I had them at various centers for quite a while. They were great for practicing the skills that we had been learning. It is so wonderful to have materials that allow the kids to be hands on and physically engaged with a concept that they are practicing. It is so much more effective to do it that way rather than with worksheets.
The guided reading skills kit was phenomenal. It allowed me to use current, bright, exciting materials to teach much needed reading skills and comprehension strategies. That is a must in today's reading work, even in first grade.
Your generosity is very touching. Thanks for giving to this project.”

Leveled Books
Funded Sep 17, 2013My students were so excited to have these books. They are learning to read, and needed many more books at their reading level. I am thrilled with how much they enjoy reading these books. It's a beautiful thing when a child does not want to put a book down. We use the books daily in their "just right" book boxes. They read independently when they finish their work or at an independent reading station. We also take them home in our reading bags. They get to read these books with their parents and siblings, making reading a family affair, too. I have noticed that having these books in our classroom has made a great impact on their enthusiasm for reading. Sometimes with reluctant readers, attitude is half the battle. Thanks so much for funding these invaluable resources. We would not be making the gains that we are without them.”

Multicultural Magic Part 1
Funded Aug 16, 2013My students are so thrilled with these tablets. If they ask me once they ask me a hundred times a day "Can I use a tablet Mrs. Burke?" I have been able to download about 8 apps that are absolutely perfect for their daily use and practice. It is so sweet to see them putting their little heads together and trying to beat a game. They have no idea how much practice they are getting when they use these tablets. That is a beautiful thing. My first graders are almost ready to start doing some basic research on animals. We have access to a website called Pebble Go that is a kids' research site. I can't wait to teach them how to access the info using the tablets. Once I show them this, they will be off and running.
I am also able to use the tablets during math and reading centers. This allows me to teach my differentiated small groups with ease. Once the kids get on a tablet, they are actively engaged with it for their entire center time. This is so helpful when I am teaching reading or math skills to the other children.
I can't thank you enough for helping to fund this proposal. These tablets have been a real blessing.”

Arts Give You Smarts
Funded Aug 20, 2012I can't begin to thank you enough for all the materials that you funded. My proposal contained requests for lots of different types of materials that would allow my students to sample various forms of art and creative thinking and movement. The pictures that I have submitted are of some of my students using the Wikki Stix to spell words that they have been working on. In the past, we have used them to create different animals and plants as we studied their needs in science. 3 of the pictures are of the kids building with the interesting notched rods that you funded. They are so cool and have become a favorite of my students. The dress-up kits have been a big hit, too. We have studies our community and community helpers. The kids got to take turns acting out and dressing up as the different community helpers in our classroom. I could go on and on about how much my students (and those of my teammates) have enjoyed exploring their creative sides through these materials. Thank you all for your kind hearts and generous spirits.”

Funded Apr 25, 2012I am so thrilled with the materials that you funded for my students. They have played with several of the puzzles, and they really like them. The puzzles make great centers and partner work. There are so many different ideas in the in the books that you funded for us. I can't wait to start making some of the games for the kids to play. They love to be able to play a game to practice a skill instead of doing a worksheet. These materials make my workshop time great. The kids look forward to it, and I can get lots of differentiated instruction done in my classroom.
Thanks for your thoughtful generosity.”

Reading Groups Rock!
Funded Feb 19, 2012The materials that you funded for my wonderful class of kindergarteners and first graders are perfect for them. They love coming to reading groups and using the materials. They are starting to work on their reading comprehension and acquiring new vocabulary. These reading group kits are perfect for that.
The pictures show some of my students using the materials independently and some with a small group and a peer tutor. Again, I can't thank you enough for these materials. I know that they are going to make a big difference for all my students.”

Fire Up Reading For My K-1 Combo
Funded Dec 23, 2011workingThank you, thank you, thank you! My class and I could not be more thrilled with our new Kindle Fire. It has opened up a whole world of possibilities for reading, practicing skills, critical thinking, and research. You would not believe how quickly my little guys in kindergarten and first grade have picked up on how to navigate through the different windows on the machine and get to exactly what they want in record time.
In the pictures you will see my kids woring alone and in pairs with this new learning tool. We love it and can't thank you enough for your generosity.”

Phonics Fun!!
Funded Jan 15, 2012Thank you so much for funding this awesome project. My students can't
get enough of these partner games. They have
so much fun becoming more independent with their reading while they are playing the partner games with their friends. We use the reading group materials regularly to work on specific skills while we are reading. Your generosity is really making a difference with the children in my class this year and for years to come. It is very exciting to see their growth almost daily. The materials that you funded for us are a big part of that amazing growth.”

Math Motivators
Funded Oct 21, 2011Thank you so much for funding this awesome project. My students can't
get enough of those Hot Dot Cards and Pens. They have
so much fun becoming more independent with their math. At first it
was interesting to see them just pushing the buttons on
the cards. Now, they were really figuring out exactly what
this new tool can do for them. I have watched them transition into
actually using the pen to check the accuracy of their answers. I love what I am seeing with my mathematicians. It would not be
possible without your help in funding this project. ”

Funded Oct 24, 2011Thank you so much for funding this awesome project. My students can't get enough of those building materials and the Wedge-its. They have so much fun building with their friends. At first it was interesting to see them just putting all the pieces together randomly. Now, they are really figuring out exactly how to use the materials to build some very interesting structures. It is so cool to watch their spatial visualization develop and their ability to look at a picture of a structure and be able to choose the pieces to build it. It is even more fun to see that they are really enjoying themselves while they are learning new skills.
This would not have been possible without your generosity. We are very appreciative.”
