  • I Need My Space!

    Funded Apr 17, 2025
  • Owl Be Your Friend!

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

This project was such a wonderful experience for my kinders! They LOVED learning about owls and how they live, eat and produce owl pellets! That was a big hit! Finding bones in the pellets and being able to identify them was HUGE for this age group. I was so happy that this project was funded through Donors Choose.

Your support and donations are so important to schools that have very minimal funding for fun, educational projects! I teach in a very low income school and it is so important for this kids to expand their horizons with learning and understanding the world.

    Thank you so very much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

  • Earth Day Every Day!

    Funded Aug 1, 2024

Earth Day Every Day has given my class the hands on scientific experience they need for our Science and Social Studies curriculum.

Butterflies! We watched for 2 weeks butterflies emerge from a chrysalis stage! It was fun and exciting to say the least. We thought we only had three viable butterflies, but ended up with six beautiful orange butterflies that we released in our school garden.

The books we received regarding recycling, honey making, and turtle life cycle made for a great unit of study. The students learned so much about these areas and enjoyed recalling facts. Fun learning!!

Creating a tree from a seed was a highlight of the study. Using the model you bought for us made a great impact on how long it takes a tree to grow. We compared our little tree with a tree on our playground.

Thanks again for all you do at Donors Choose for our kiddos!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

  • We Love Books!

    Funded Jul 28, 2023

Thank you so very much for the wonderful books you purchased for our classroom! We have enjoyed reading each and every one!

These books have provided my students with great discussions and writing. We often draw a picture and write sentences about parts of the books we enjoyed and create a classroom book for our bookshelf.

Reading is such a vital part of kindergarten. Love of reading and books start here! It is encouraging to know that books are still being written and enjoyed for us to purchase!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

  • Express Yourself!

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

My class was absolutely ecstatic to get the wonderful items you chose to send donations for. They have been very creative in their imaginations; using all the wonderful items to express their feelings and thoughts.

The playdough was used for animal homes, cars, trucks, dresses and so much more! The paint pods were used for our study of bees and butterflies -- creating the most wonderful paintings to share with our school friends by displaying in the hallway!

Thanks again for providing my class with wonderful ways to create!”

  • Let's Get it Cookin'!

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

Our "new" living center has been a big hit with the kindergarteners! The oven, stove, washer, refrigerator and sink has served as a home, a restaurant, and a grocery store! It has greatly promoted creativity among my students. They have also learned responsibility in keeping things nice and neat in a home environment. Their pride and excitement were beyond words. This has been a blessing and has filled my bucket with joy that Donors Choose could make "nice" things possible for my students! We are beyond grateful!”

  • The Deep Blue Sea!

    Funded Dec 21, 2021

Your kind donation allowed my kindergarten class to learn more about the ocean! The manipulatives, books and art books were enjoyed by over 125 students! Book reports, murals, writing sentences and making dioramas were displayed for all to see. We even had a field trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium to see "real" life ocean animals!

Our school is a Title 1 school. Our students need enrichment and access to materials that will help them grow and learn! This project was one of the best! The students were excited to be able to express their love of the ocean!”

  • Let's Build It!

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

We are using our STEAM building items during our bilingual center time. The students are thrilled to be able to create and "make" inventions! It is very fun to watch!

My students come from a very low socio economic background. They are very grateful to have "new" manipulatives to create and design with. Some of the creations have been -- flying cars, a community of houses where animals live and a bus that transports people and animals!

We are also writing sentences and illustrating our creations! This has been a game changer with our writing lessons!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

Engaging students in the writing process can be arduous. I am creating a "wild about writing" classroom using animals that students love to learn about. A classroom rug depicting animals around the world would enhance a positive learning and comfortable environment. Many of my students come from poverty stricken homes. Providing an inviting "student interest owned" classroom can enable student curiosity and desire to learn!
