Virtual Learning for Gifted and Talented Students
Funded Sep 3, 2020Words can not express how blessed I feel to have donors like you. Doing this unforeseen time in education, you have made my virtual teaching experience extremely rewarding for my amazing gifted and talented students and myself. Because of your donations, I was able to set up a corner in my home to represent a face-to-face classroom. I did not have the funds to do this myself.
The portable laptop computer stand helps me when teaching science experiments and responding with students on my monitor. I truly enjoy my bookshelf back drop and presentation white board. I introduce a new vocabulary word each week using my dry erase board.
My next step for my resilient and intelligent students is to create a new Donors Choose project to include STEM kits mailed to each of my students. We will be able to virtually complete projects and activities together.”

Funded Jul 7, 2020I really can't thank you enough for your kindness. Because of you, my students were able to receive pencils, notebooks, journals, reading books, markers, crayons, scissors, construction paper, and glue. My kids were very excited to receive the supplies. I teach gifted and talented students. Since schools are closed, I called my students parents to meet me on a Saturday to pick up the supplies. Everyone had on a mask and parents were very grateful for the supplies.
A new school year can be challenging. However, this year the challenges have been almost insurmountable. The pandemic has changed how we operate school. We have had to adjust to a new normal. Students now attend school via their computer. Their classroom is usually the dining room or kitchen table. It is really difficult for students to concentrate at home.
Because of your generosity my students have the supplies they need to be successful this year. Thank you again for your support.”

Technology Is Calling!
Funded Dec 12, 2019Having technology in the classroom is an important factor in helping students excel academically. The computer that you helped to purchase for my students have made a tremendous impact. I often use the computer with the projector to enlarge information on the white board. Students are able to easily view reading, math, science, or social science activities.
I also use the computer along with the headphones for independent work, If students finish their assignments early, they can use the computer to play educational reading or math games.
Thank you so much for contributing to my class and helping my students answer the technology call.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Dear Donors Choose,
I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for your kindness and generosity for supporting my energetic Second Graders with a class set of seat sacks. My students love them! Each student has a seat sack on the back of their chair. Papers, supplies, and notebooks are no longer protruding from their small desks. My intelligent Second Graders now remember to take home newsletters and homework, because important information is kept in their seat sacks. My classroom is "almost" clutter free thanks to your altruistic gift.
Donors like you comprehend the importance of supporting our youth and helping them to mature into well-rounded individuals.
Again, thank you Donors choose for your deep commitment for supporting and believing in educators.”

Funded Nov 24, 2015My second grade class was so excited when they saw the huge boxes that contained the easel, magnetic alphabet, and clip boards. I told them the minute the project was funded and they were so happy that someone cared enough to give them what they needed to be better students. The students asked me almost every day " have they come yet?" I was so happy to finally tell them that their wait was over. All of the students were sitting on the carpet and I selected several of them to unpack the boxes.
When the students saw the easel, they were very impressed by the size of it and couldn't wait to use it. I read the instructions and told the students that the easel had to be assembled, and I would assemble it after school and have it ready for the next day. They were very excited.
The following day, the students used the easel and alphabet to write words and sentences during the reading block. Placing the magnetic letters on the easel made learning the words fun. The students also enjoyed using the clip boards during science observations.
Betsie and John, I really can't thank you enough for your caring support. My class and I appreciate all that you have done for us. From the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you !”
With gratitude,
Dr. Otey
