Temple Grandin has said, "I can remember the frustration of not being able to talk. I knew what I wanted to say, but I could not get the words out, so I would just scream." Like Temple Grandin, more than half of my students have difficulties with at least one aspect of social language. These deficits make it incredibly difficult for students to play, communicate and interact with their peers. Without proper intervention, these difficulties persist into adulthood and throughout the lifespan of the individual. In addition, social language deficits limit a student's ability to access the education curriculum provided in a classroom setting. My goal is to help these students to acquire the skills necessary to communicate successfully with others.
