  • Building Shelf Esteem With Reading!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you so much for the generous donations that went towards my project. Within my classroom, there are 30 students which means there is a wide level or readers as well as a wide variety. Books are an amazing tool and help immensely, however, they sometimes take a bit longer and aren't as useful for a quick lesson. With your donations, we were able to get reading games that focus on comprehension, vocabulary, cause and effect, inferencing, main idea, and looked at informational texts.

These games have made a great impact on student learning. Not only are they continuing to learn about cooperation and working together, they are getting to work on reading skills. The games are not just teaching the skills, but have the excitement of any board game. Students need to try and collect money to buy things, or collect "flags" to make it to the finish, collect "jewels", or watch out for hazards on the road that they might experience in real life!

These games will benefit everyone, but especially some of the students who struggle a bit more. I am able to work in small groups with these kids and pinpoint what they might really be struggling with, as well as guide them to the right answers with explanations.

Thanks again for your generous donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dompier

  • Learning With Wobble Stools and Math Tools

    Funded Nov 4, 2017

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations! My students and I absolutely love the new stools, and that couldn't be possible without you. Kids arrive quickly each day in hopes of getting a stool for them to use during the day.

When my students first saw the stools, they could not believe we actually got them! We have other flexible seating options in our classroom, but the stools were new and exciting. Each kid eagerly took a turn sitting on the stools, playing around and testing their limits before they fell over.

I think now my students hope we can get more stools to add to our classroom so each kid has a chance as sitting on one. Thank you again for your generosity and kind donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dompier

  • Mighty Math with Lego Bricks and iPads

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

We cannot thank you enough for your kind and generous donation. We are so lucky to have such great supporters like you

The iPads have made a great impact already -- students are able to practice their multiplication facts more frequently, they are able to use their creative writing to create stories, they have been able to research more about WA State and Pioneers, as well as experiment with science simulations (things that are not possible within the classroom!) They have also helped translate for English Learners who speak different languages and are new to our school!

The Legos have been a great tool when completing fractions, looking at unit, and working with area. Once again, thank you!!

Overall, these are a great tool in the class, and we are excited to see what other awesome activities we can use them for.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dompier

Within our classroom,10 different languages are represented. They vary in beginning language learners to highly capable. They are motivated students who I challenge daily to do their best and go outside their comfort zone. One way to support these challenges are to have technology tools at hand. Technology is becoming more prominent in society today, and therefore students are asked to research subjects such as WA State and the Pacific Northwest, science inquiry projects, math projects, and other engaging tasks.
