  • Build it: A Fun and Rewarding Recess

    Funded Dec 29, 2024

I don't know if I can express my gratitude for your kindness and support. The students are so happy with the materials and the mood at lunch as changed substantially.

The Tic Tac Toe, though simple and a throw-back, was a huge hit that has become a daily competition between students. And the Legos have helped our children create small worlds where they creatively interact and invent. One day, a student who was having a particular difficult day, came to me and asking for the Thomas trains. In no time he was able to recollect himself and focus for the rest of the day. It was remarkable.

Again, thank you for your kindness. Our students will continue to benefit from your support. Though it is only 40 minutes of their day, the effects reverberate for much longer.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin

    Funded Mar 10, 2021

It is a new school year, but your kindness is still making a difference for students at my school and for the kids who have moved on to middle school. I am lucky to be reminded everyday as the students continue to bring in their water bottles which help keep them safe and reduce waste.

I still remember the day I gave Armando his bottle. While all of the kids were excited, Armando was almost crying. He stopped next to me on his way out and said, " Thank you so much Mrs. Griffin. Now I don't have to borrow my little brothers sippy cup anymore." I will never forget the pride in his eyes.

Your support has made a difference in these young people's lives now and into the future. My sincerest thanks.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Griffin

Our students have been through a difficult time, like all children, dealing with this pandemic. After learning remotely in the Spring of last year and then again this winter, a reduced number are finally back to in person learning. However life is not back to what it was one year ago. One issue that we are dealing is that, due to safety measures, the students are not permitted to use the water fountains to quench their thirst. Instead they are given a plastic cup that they can fill and must immediately throw away. The purchase of water bottles will ensure that all of our students have access to water and will reduce plastic waste.
