Adding these various art materials (such as acrylic paints, colored pencils, and watercolors) in our classroom will help students enhance current reading units within our language arts program. During the fifth assessment week of our reading units, students have the ability to express themselves artistically while demonstrating content-learned skills through different media. These art materials are unique tools students can use to enhance our knowledge and understanding of comprehension strategies/skills and writing types we are learning how to master and express. This will enable us to provide opportunities for individualized expression and creativity for all students. Adding flexible seating as an option for my students will give them the ability to learn successfully. Increasing student engagement by offering multiple seating options will help students learn and grow academically and emotionally: especially giving them choices as to where they can sit. During paired, group, and independent activities, stools, wiggle chairs, wiggle cushions, and chair bands will help students in our class figure out where and what seating options they can learn best with. This especially helps students who have difficulty focusing and who may struggle with ADD/ADHD. Helping all students succeed, by providing options of different choices of seating, will help to increase their accountability and motivation to learn together successfully.
