Bats For Baseball
Funded Nov 26, 2015Dear Donors,
As you will see from the photos, the kids look good in their uniforms and are able to carry all the gear they need thanks to the team bags. We are able to wear both road and home uniforms as required by the league, and no longer have to ask permission of the opposing coach to wear our home jersey every game. The season has started off on the colder side so the fleeces have really come in handy. So far this season the kids have played hard in their first two games winning one and losing the other by 1 run.
When I told the students that we had gotten our project fully funded, they were in disbelief. I had to put the donors choose project on the overhead projector and show them. They couldn't believe that people they had never met were so generous to donate to their program. While they would never admit it, some of these teenage boys had a few tears in their eyes. After that day my students would ask me on almost a daily basis if the gear had arrived. The first to arrive was the uniform, and they were all so excited to see it. After that point, the materials came slowly over time, but it really worked out, as it was like a present every week or two from January through February. They were very excited, and they proudly wear their gear almost every day to school as it is considered to be school uniform.
Now that the season has started, we have been able to put our gear to use, and have fun playing the game of baseball which we all love. Thanks to your generosity, a team of poor students are able to show their pride and have fun, while looking like a team. We are very excited to play our season, please wish us the best as we have 14 games to go.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Bluestone
