  • Focused Learning!

    Funded Aug 8, 2020

My students have been virtual learning since we started school back in September. With your help and generous donations, I was able to give each one of my students a pair of headphones or earbuds to have at home with them. These truly help my students stay focused on me and their learning during these hard times. My students were so excited to have these headphones and they are taking very good care of them. So again, thank you for helping out and funding this project so that my students can stay focused during their online learning time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

  • Learning is Fun!

    Funded May 8, 2020

Thank you so much for all your generous donations towards this project and supporting my classroom. My students are using the learning games and manipulatives at home to help them practice the skills they acquired before the school was shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic. Seeing the smiles on my students faces when I gave them their bag full of learning materials brought me to tears. They were so excited to not only see me but to get some materials to help them learn at home. So again, thank you for helping fund this project and give my students something to smile about during this chaotic time.”

  • Snacks Ahoy!

    Funded May 21, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations and helping get some breakfast and lunch options to my students. I have been so worried while our school has been closed about how my students are going to eat.

My students were so excited when I gave them their bag full of snacks and food. I've received messages on class dojo, our classroom communication tool, from my students that the snacks were yummy.

My students and I truly appreciate each and every one of you who helped fund this project and get some food and snacks in their homes.”

  • Read Your Hearts Out!

    Funded May 7, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations in helping make this project happen. My students were so excited to get some new books to enjoy at home while school is closed.

We shared some of our books during a virtual meeting and even did some directed drawings of the characters in the story. We love to do activities with our stories in the classroom so being able to continue that virtually has made my students smile.

In our classroom books are put together according to DRA levels. Students are able to pick out their own book but at their level. With this project I was able to get the correct book level for each one of my students. Now they have some books in their homes to keep practicing reading to become fluent readers.”

  • Flexible Ways to Sit and Learn!

    Funded Aug 7, 2019

Thank you so much for helping fund this project to get some flexible seating inside our classroom. My students are focusing more on their work especially when working on technology. When I started pulling the items out of the box their eyes lit up. They ask me all the time if they can sit in a bean bag chair or wobble stool. I have slowly introduced each piece of flexible seating and we are now using them all. My students can't wait until technology time or center time so they can use the flexible seating. Again, thank you so much for funding this project and helping us stay focused so we can learn more.”

  • Concentration is Key!

    Funded May 11, 2018

Thank you for supporting my classroom and donating to this project to get learning materials into my classroom. My students were so excited when I opened the package and showed them the alphabet stamps, ink pads, dot paints, and headphones. They have already been enjoying the alphabet stamps practicing their sight words as well as their letters and sounds. The headphones have helped with keeping the learning environment quiet while utilizing technology. Again, thank you so much for your generous donation and helping bring materials into my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

  • Full STEM Ahead!!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

Thank you so much for helping fund this STEM project. My students were so excited when these new materials arrived. They couldn't wait to jump right in and use them. These STEM kits will help with collaboration amongst the students and help them see that when they work as a team they can create a number of ideas. These hands-on activities will also help grasp basic science skills, as well as problem solving skills. So again, thank you for the generous donation to help bring excitement into my classroom through hands-on learning experiences!”

  • Getting Comfortable in Small Groups!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you again for your generous donation to help fund this project. The students were so eager to help me put the table and chairs together so they could have somewhere comfortable to work. We are using our new table to have guided reading groups, making crafts, working on writing, and working on reinforcing skills in reading and math. Having this table is a blessing as we no longer have to sit on the floor and it helps with concentration. With the table being a bright color I tell the kids it's the magic table and that is where you can work on comfort and magic will happen. So thank you again for helping make the project come to life.”

  • Addition Magic

    Funded Mar 19, 2018

Thank you again for your generous donation to help fund this project. My students are already using and loving the new hands-on centers that have come into the classroom. We use them on a daily basis to help reinforce skills taught throughout the year. The students were so excited for me to open the box to see what was inside. They know when they see a big box that there is going to be something really cool and fun for them to use while learning. So again, thank you for helping keep young children excited about learning in school.”

    With gratitude,

  • Sight Words Galore!

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Thank you again so.much for helping fund this project. It truly means a lot to myself as well as my students to know that there are generous people out there to help them get a better education. My students are having a lot of fun sifting through stuff to find sight words, building their sights, practicing writing their sight words, and making sentences with their sight words. They will for sure start grasping these words they need to help start reading with daily practice with these hands-on learning experiences.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

My students come to our school because they live in the immediate neighborhood. Many of them walk or take the bus to get to school every day. Most of them come from a low income family with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They suffer from low academics and many suffer from ADHD. They come to learn but some days it is a struggle to keep them on task. I have to make sure that we are always on the move and we have a lot of hands on activities and movements planned for the day.
