Thank you for your generous donations to help get materials in the hands of my students who are virtual learning at this time.

With your help I was able to give each student a pair of ear buds to help focus while at home, a box of crayons, a pair of scissors, glue sticks, pencils, a sipper pouch to hold it all, and a journal for practicing writing skills.

My students and I are truly grateful for helping get materials into their homes so they can complete their work and be successful in school even though they are learning from home.”

  • Learning Through Technology!

    Funded Jul 9, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations and helping get the materials and technology into the classroom that will help my students see videos, projects, and work whether they are in the classroom or virtual.

The projector is used to display videos for movement as well as learning videos for specific topics. The rolling cart is used to hold the projector as well as my chromebook so I can walk around the classroom for those students who are virtual.

My students and I are truly grateful for your help in bringing this project to life.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

  • Supplies Galore!

    Funded Jun 28, 2020

Thank you for all your wonderful and generous donations to this project. My students have been virtual since September and truly needed supplies at home so they could complete their assignments.

The storage bags were used to hold all the materials so they have everything in one spot. The dry erase boards are used everyday to cut down on the use of paper. Each students received three dry erase markers to use on their white board.

My students and I are truly grateful for your help in making sure they had the proper materials in their homes to be successful in school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

  • Reading Is Key!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations and helping fund this project so that my students will still have books while they are at home learning.

These books will help build their reading fluency as well as basic reading skills. These books will also allow me to assign activities to build sight word knowledge and build comprehension skills. We will be able to engage in DEAR time having these books at home.

My students and I are truly grateful for your help in making this project happen and will enjoy these books.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

  • Keep Reading While in Quarantine!

    Funded May 28, 2020

Thank you for helping support my classroom during this difficult time. My students have had to transition to staying at home and learning through a computer instead of being together inside the classroom.

Having these books in front of them will allow me to assign several activities to do with the books such as sight word hunts. Having these books will also help with reading fluency. We will use the books during DEAR time also.

My students and I are truly grateful for your help with funding this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

  • Virtual Hands-On Learning!

    Funded Dec 27, 2020

With the help of your.generous donations and helping make this project come to life, I was able to purchase several boom card bundles and Google slides interactive bundles through TpT.

These bundles will help my students learn the concepts of sight words, letter recognition, letter sounds, building cvc words, reading simple sentences, number recognition, counting, addition, subtraction, and measuring.

These boom cards are the closest thing to having that hands-on learning experience. Thank you again for helping fund this project and getting materials into the hands of my students to help them be successful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Akowitz

This classroom project was brought to life by Bartush Family Foundation and 3 other donors.
My students come to our school because they live in the immediate neighborhood. Many of them walk or take the bus to get to school every day. Most of them come from a low income family with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They suffer from low academics and many suffer from ADHD. They come to learn but some days it is a struggle to keep them on task. I have to make sure that we are always on the move and we have a lot of hands on activities and movements planned for the day.
