Google Pixelbook for Special Needs!
Funded Sep 11, 2018I am so grateful for all of your generosity. I just woke up this morning with the best news. My class is getting the computer and we get to begin this new journey.
The great thing about this program ia that you're helping each individual student with your contributions.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 4 other donors.iPad Pro for Exciting New Classroom Curriculum.
Funded Oct 5, 2016The technology that you brought to my classroom has been so impactful. My students now have daily responsibilities with the iPad. They use it for their entire curriculum and are able to take care of the iPad. With the iPad they are able to access their curriculum specifically with picture supports.
The picture supports after the last few years has increased their reading levels drastically. They also use the iPad to access online articles for research. They take this research and create slideshows. I'm convinced I'm one of the only moderate severe special day class where students are researching and presenting PowerPoints that was created by them.
Thank you so much for all of your support. Your donations have literally changed many of these students lives. They have more technology in their life. Which means increased learning, text scores, and preparation for High School.”

Mr. Indich
Two SuperDrives for Inner City Special Needs Classroom
Funded Feb 8, 2016Thanks to your generous donation we have been able to implement some amazing software in Room 601. Besides having access to educational games, we have been able to use some essential software for our classroom. These include: First Categories, which uses 60 common nouns in six categories to teach categorization skills. We also use QuestionQuest, which a three-level series that teaches students to understand who, what, where, why, how, with what, and yes/no questions. Then for my students that need more advanced software we use Simple Sentence Structure, which is a pioneering language intervention program for students who have a core vocabulary of nouns and verbs but are having difficulty convening meaning. It teaches the importance of subject-verb-object word order in sentences. These softwares have data collection features which have been very useful in seeing their advancement in these domains.
What's most exciting about these Super Drives for our classroom is the pride and sense of ownership that they've gained. Many of these students don't have any computers at home, let alone any technology. They maintain them throughout the day and clean them at the end of the day. When students from other classrooms come to visit our room, my students are quick to tell them the rules for the Super Drives. Another thing that we are excited about are upcoming technologies that we will have the opportunity to purchase for our Super Drives. These are extremely powerful computers and will be future proof for years. I was actually told from an employee from LBUSD that they are the best computers in the district, let alone in a special education classroom.
Many of my students have gained a lot from these Super Drives. The love for learning has risen and their anxiousness to use software in unmeasurable. Since the Super Drives have arrived, one student in particular has had less negative behaviors. He began the school year with physical and verbal outbursts. It was quite difficult to find something for him to work for, that he actually wanted. Since the Super Drives were delivered, we began a reward system to use the iMacs at the end of the day. With almost a 90% success rate, we have been able to extinguish his bad behaviors. This has been a great reward system for all my students. I have been able to convince my students to work to be able to work on computers.
We are so grateful for your donation and are so excited to see what these computers bring to the future of Room 601.”
