More than 1/2 my class is African American boys who receive free breakfast and lunch. They live in a poverty stricken area. They are not exposed to the world beyond the city limits. They know too much about crime, hunger and desperation. Our school is trying to educate both our students and parents about the value of a good education and empathy towards others. It is a challenge on a daily basis to keep out students focused, engaged and aware. So having computers in the classroom will assist us in exposing our students to the world around them. We want them to dream big and achieve even more.
