  • Creating Magic Through Art

    Funded Dec 20, 2021

My students have LOVED every minute of getting to use the new art materials from this project. We now have, thanks to you, a creation station in our classroom which is their favorite center to go to. They get to use the colored pencils, markers, construction paper and the other materials to bring their ideas to life. It is absolutely amazing to watch their imaginations and creativity at work. You have opened up a brand new world for them to explore. Thank you so so much for making this possible for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elder

  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, OH MY!!

    Funded Aug 25, 2021

The students in my class are absolutely LOVING the new lego table and legos. It is the number one station that they choose for free choice centers. It is awesome because they can start building on a structure and if it is time to clean up and they are not finished there is an area where they can store their masterpieces. And it never fails next time that it is free choice centers they are right back there continuing to build on what they have already started. I love to watch them make a plan and then start construction. Sometimes, their designs fail and I get to watch them be problem solvers. It truly is a magical learning experience for them and me.”

  • BOOKS!! Listen and Read!

    Funded Apr 22, 2021

It is such an exciting day when packages are delivered to our classroom. The students know that what's inside those packages are things for them. I wish I could share photos of their faces, it is like Christmas morning. When we opened the book boxes and they saw the cd's that go with them they were grinning from ear to ear. Needless, to say, the listening center has been a favorite center to go to. Thank you so much for making opportunities like this available for me and my students. It has a direct impact for the students in my classroom.”

  • S.T.E.M. - Growing Young ENGINEERS

    Funded Mar 19, 2021

When the boxes arrived in our classroom the kids were very curious about what was inside. We talked and thought about what it could be, by looking at the size of the box and shaking the boxes they guessed what they thought was inside. I told them that some very generous people gave to our classroom to have some really cool S.T.E.M activities. We then had a discussion about what S.T.E.M. was and they were making connections of things that we already were doing in our classroom that supported S.T.E.M. When we opened the boxes it was like Christmas morning, the expression on their faces and the excitement in their voices was priceless. We immediately put together the light table and then we explored the different colors and what happened to the colored blocks when we put it on the light table. Since then it has been the go to center for all my students. They have imagined and created building structures, they have created tubes and tunnels for marbles to get to point a to point b and they have created blue prints for what they were going to build.

I am looking forward to introducing my students to inventors their own age and I cannot wait to see what amazing things they are going to imagine and create.”

  • Starting the Day Off with SUCCESS!

    Funded Jul 25, 2017

Thank you does not seem like an adequate response for the generosity that you have shown. I hope that I can convey the excitement and learning that has come from your willingness to give to my class.

The materials arrived just as school was beginning in August and the newness of kindergarten was in full swing. The students minds were full of curiosity of what this thing called kindergarten was all about. I told the students that we were chosen to receive this box that had many wonderful learning opportunities that would be waiting for us inside. The anticipation in the students was growing day by day as we were learning the routine of what our day would look like. The day finally came that "THE" box arrived. I walked in the classroom with the box and told the students that our surprise had come. Their faces were beaming with excitement as they waited patiently for me to start pulling out one by one the materials that were inside. We talked about each one from the alphabet stamps, Lego's, magnetic blocks, the contraption set, the gears, the rhyming and syllable games, beginning sounds and alphabet letter construction. They could not wait to get their hands on the materials. That was the first day I let them begin to explore what these new materials were and what we could use them for.

The learning experiences that take place because of an idea they had when they were building with the gears turns into an incredible teaching time that they are fully engaged in. I have also been able to dive into new STEM vocabulary while the students are engaged in the activities. For example, they started using words like pulley, lever, gears, etc...As an educator, I am so blessed to have donors choose to go to for educational needs in my classroom that my district cannot provide. It is these materials that allow my students to go deeper in their learning.

We have had so many rich conversations about the materials that we get to use in our classroom on a daily basis. Not only are the students learning more educationally they are learning valuable life skills such as cooperation, team work and responsibility. Thank you for helping me raise life long learners.”

  • Books for Writer's Workshop

    Funded Oct 27, 2015

There are no words to express how thankful I am for you and your generous donation. Since receiving our books for Writer's Workshop the students have used them multiple times over our units. The excitement that is in their faces every time they get to learn a new writing strategy from the books you provided is absolutely priceless. It has been awesome to watch some of my struggling writers get excited about writing now. From looking at the beginning of the year writing samples to where they are now is absolutely astounding. I want to express my heart felt gratitude for investing in me and in my students.”

My students are eager to learn whatever I place in front of them. The students in my classroom are diverse and come from different social and economic backgrounds. They have recently discovered that they are authors and illustrators and that has been a new door for them to open and explore. With these mentor texts it will help facilitate their learning.
