My class is filled with incredibly hard-working, compassionate kids. These eager learners are so thrilled when they find a book they love. My goal is to have all of them leave fourth grade with an idea of what author or series they enjoy reading. The Oregon Battle of the Books book titles are generally engaging. They tend to expose kids to new authors, genres and series. That's why I chose this list of books to highlight for the rest of the year. My class is very diverse with several students who are emerging bilingual speaking Somali, Russian, Spanish, Korean, Arabic or Vietnamese at home. 90% of my students are living below the poverty line, which qualifies our school for school-wide free breakfast and lunch.
