Sensory Table

Funded Jan 7, 2016

Dear Donors,

I am so thankful to have our new sensory table in my preschool classroom this school year! When the sensory table arrived, it was very easy to assemble. The table has four separate buckets to allow multiple materials to be accessed all at once, which is really nice. My students were super excited to see a new item in our classroom. Many of them even clapped when I told them what it was going to be used for. I told my preschoolers that the sensory table was donated by friends, family, community members, and even strangers. They were pretty impressed!

The first thing we did with the sensory table was water play. I put rubber duckies with numbers and letters in the buckets filled with water. The preschoolers loved exploring the objects in the water. It was fun to watch the kids make their names and other words with the alphabet ducks. This provided my students a very engaging learning opportunity to explore letters and numbers.

The next thing I put in the sensory table was kinetic sand. For most students, it was their first time feeling kinetic sand. They were amazed that they could make "real sand castles". Currently, there are fake insects, tweezers, bug catchers, nets, magnifying glasses, green sand, and pretend dirt in the sensory table. This has been a great extension activity as we finish the school year with a unit about insects.

I am grateful for your generous donations, and am excited to see the continuing positive impact this sensory table will provide for future preschool students!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Marth
