• Interactive Notebooks and Resource Caddies

  The new school year has begun and thanks to your generosity my students have gotten off to a great start!

  The composition books I needed for the Interactive Notebooks were waiting for me at school, so there was no delay in getting the kids started. Two days into the new school year and we were up and running.

  The caddies full of resources that are needed daily in a math class are on each desk, and the students never have to waste time looking for what they need. These resources are such a blessing in a school where so many families are financially challenged.

• Getting Off on the Right Foot

  Dear Donors,

  I want to personally thank everyone who help make this project a success! My project was fully funded on a Wednesday, and I had the supplies in my classroom by Friday of the same week. Simply amazing.

  The supplies I requested were basic supplies that my students needed - paper, pencils, and calculators. I teach in a high poverty area, and sometimes it was a hardship for students to afford the basics. But thanks to you I now have a "lending area" where students simply take what they need, no questions asked.

  My students also enjoy doing assignments on erasable whiteboards, and while I have plenty of the boards, the markers are another story. With a 135 or so students I go through dozens of markers a year. Now I have plenty to last me until June!

  Now that my class has a set of calculators, I don't have to worry about having enough to go around; everyone has their own. This makes things run much smoother in the classroom.

  I can not overstate how important it is for students to have the basic supplies that most of us take for granted. So again, I thank you, and my students thank you as well.”

• Interactive Notebooks and Foldables

  Thank you all for your donations! I have received all of my supplies and my students are using the items you donated. We have been using the interactive notebooks since the start of the school year and they are a big hit! Thanks to your generosity I have enough books for all students, and I even have a few extra to give to students who transfer into my class as the year continues. The students were excited to use the color paper in their books; it just gives their notes some extra "pop". And it may sound silly, but they were really excited by the new scissors. Previously I was using some old scissors that had been left by another teacher, and they were the blunted safety scissors you would find in a kindergarten classroom. Now we have enough scissors for everyone, no sharing needed, and they actually cut well! My students are now taking notes that are concise, and easy for them to follow. Taking notes in a math class is always a challenge, but now their notes are neat, and organized. Thanks again for helping my classroom.”
