Multisensory Learning
Funded Sep 3, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. The math manipulatives and sentence makers that I received have already been put to good use in my classroom. Having these resources has been a great help to my students for math and literacy.
The fraction bar cubes are helping my students have concrete manipulatives that help them to develop their conceptual understanding of naming, comparing and adding fractions. They are excitedly using them to prove their thinking and to help each other understand fraction concepts.
Our next unit will involve using the place value discs and magnetic base 10 sets. Again, having the concrete manipulatives helps to quickly and solidly develop concepts within mathematics as well as helping students stay engaged and feel successful. Your donation has made all of this possible.”

Funded Mar 3, 2020Thank you so much for your support for my classroom! The package of books was delivered the day we left for spring break, that turned into distance learning for the rest of the year. However, I previewed the books with my class and they were so excited to see them.
The series of Who/What was ____? is also a kids show on Netflix so they were able to connect their reading and learning from the books they already enjoyed to the show, which helps them really "see" who and what they are learning about. This learning is particularly impactful for my curious class as they are learning about the world around them during a time that we are unable to go out into it.
I cannot wait to be able to return to the classroom and get a new set of readers excited about learning about historical figures such as King Tut, Martin Luther King Jr. and Anne Frank. Thank you again for your support!”

Funded Oct 25, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity and support of the English Language Learners in my grade level. The availability of Spanish books in the classroom has been immensely helpful in providing not only books in the home language of the students but also the opportunity for them to be reading the same text as the rest of the class and, therefore, able to join in on discussions and projects with the text.
The books that came into the 4th grade classrooms from this project gave the ability for our Spanish language students to join in on research teams and books clubs with the other students who were reading books in English. By having the same texts as their classmates, they were able to join the discussion of the books and contribute to the final projects for their groups.
There is great anticipation for our historical fiction unit so that they can finally be given the opportunity to read Sobrevivi el naufragio del Titanic (I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic). The subject of the Titanic is high interest and they are excited to be able to read about the fascinating tragedy. Thank you again for your generosity and support!”

Just STEM It!
Funded Feb 18, 2019Thank you again for your generosity! My students were so intrigued when we received our STEM kits and, once we opened them, incredibly excited to have a hands on task to apply their learning to.
In using the STEM kits, my students have begun to really stretch their book learning by applying what they have read into a authentic and actual task. The activities are also helping them to push through their fear and resistance to failure and begin developing their ability to adapt to situation and be flexible in their thinking. Instead of trying out one idea and then throwing up their hands when it doesn't work, they are reflecting on what they've tried and then tweaking their ideas.
Having permanent kits in the classroom will also give them multiple opportunities to try out the same task which gives the opportunity to try new ideas and really be bold with their thinking. We cannot thank you all enough for your help and support for our classroom.”

Funded Aug 28, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity and support for my students and classroom. The impact of having two news magazines written specifically for students has been massive! My students have consumed both the tangible magazine and the online content with gusto. We would not have this resource without your support.
One amazing example of learning and connecting to the world was having magazines that addressed the devastating damage of the May wildfires in California and Hurricane Florence. These two magazines helped connect the learning we were doing during our Extreme Weather and Natural Disasters unit. They could read and research their topics and then have real time news that supported their learning.
The magazines have also given support to our students home lives. Parents have commented on the new curiosity that their children have shown at home about issues they hear about from family or see on the news. Having a news magazine that can explain or give understanding on the issues at the right level is an incredible support for our families.
My 4th graders minds are expanding and their dreams are taking off with the help of the non-fiction learning we have gotten from Scholastic News and Time for Kids. Thank you again for your help and support in providing these resources for my classroom.”

Funded May 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation and support of literacy in my classroom. The new bookshelves have created a cozy space for my students to read - it is definitely the preferred spot during reading workshop! Also, the bookshelves are attractive and accessible so my students are able to really shop for their books and take the time to explore all that the library space has to offer. The books shelves have really helped my classroom become a more comfortable and inviting space for my learners.
Thank you again. I appreciate your support!”
