  • A Refreshed Library

    Funded Jan 6, 2022

Words can not express the gratitude my class and I feel for the generous donations that were given to fund our "Refreshed Library". This funded project allowed us to receive culturally-themed books for our classroom library (which we desperately needed). It allows us to have a diversified library.

During our Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) time, scholars are able to choose from a diverse selection of books to their liking. I have found that with this peaked interest in new topics, themes, and characters, scholars are reading more and enjoying the time spent exploring new books.

We have also incorporated book clubs, where students recommend books for classmates to read and then hold discussions, each student having a different role (illustrator, timekeeper, facilitator, speaker, etc).

This opportunity to grow could not have happened without you! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crai

  • Grab a Book, Sit Back, and Enjoy!

    Funded Nov 7, 2019

Thank you so much for helping instill the love of reading to my students. They have been immersed in books and authors that they were never exposed to, like the Madeleine books, for instance. These new, various, trade books have helped my students enjoy "grabbing a book, sitting back and enjoying reading!".

My students thank you whole heartedly and always remind me if they are grabbing a book from the donors choose "lot" and how thrilled they are for it!! Since we are a "testing" grade these books have been a refreshing change to learn skills like central message, or cause and effect, and sequencing!

Again, I can not reiterate how thankful and genuinely appreciative I am of your generosity and kindness. Since these are non- consumable items, be sure that these books will be used and enjoyed for many years ( and students) to come!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crai

Help! My third grade classroom library is very sparse! The class is a new third grade class and the books available for the students to read are inadequate. We will use these books during independent reading time both in school and at home. We start each day with DEAR time- Drop Everything and Read. What I try to foster in my students is the love of reading, reading books that pique our interest and choose to read for enjoyment. I want to turn reading into something treasured and special, please help me attain this. By reading books of choice, my students will be learning, building knowledge, and expanding vocabulary.
