  • Help Build Our Classroom Library and Inspire 6th Grade Readers!

    Funded Oct 16, 2024

The new texts have been instrumental in teaching critical reading skills, such as identifying themes, analyzing characters, and understanding story structure. For instance, students are learning how to use context clues to decode unfamiliar words, summarize chapters to strengthen comprehension, and make connections between the text and their own lives. These books also introduce diverse perspectives, which spark rich discussions and encourage empathy. Your support has made transformation possible, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to nurture a lifelong love of reading in our students. Thank you for believing in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mulero

Having laptops in our 6th grade Humanities classroom has revolutionized the way my students learn. These devices have enabled me to create interactive and dynamic lessons that capture students' attention and foster deeper understanding. With the laptops, students can engage in collaborative learning activities, access online resources, and participate in interactive reading and writing exercises. This technology has made it easier for students to work at their own pace, receive immediate feedback, and develop essential digital literacy skills that are crucial in today's world.

One of the most exciting aspects of these laptops for students is the ability to explore new ideas and collaborate with their peers in real-time. They are particularly enthusiastic about using educational apps and tools that make learning more engaging and fun. For instance, some students, who struggle with reading comprehension, have shown improvement by using interactive reading programs. These students now participate more actively in class discussions and demonstrates a newfound confidence in their abilities. The laptops have truly transformed our classroom into a vibrant, tech-savvy learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

  • Can You See It Now? Good!

    Funded Feb 13, 2012

My words will be inadequate to fully thank you for your generosity, but I want you to know that I am truly appreciative. Since receiving this valuable piece of technology, I haven't stopped reminding my students that it was made possible by very generous folks that believe in their education as much as I do. The projector has been in use everyday since it was delivered and I couldn't write this short letter to you quickly enough to let you know. Please rest assured that your gift is reaching five different groups of students that comprise a total of approximately one-hundred-fifty pupils. The impact will reach even further as the projector will be used for years to come.

We recently lost a small stipend that was made available for teachers every year to use on various supplies. Although the amount was not enough to cover the cost of a projector, its absence created a deficit in other supplies that I have had to focus on with personal monies. Your donations, however, have made it possible to have the projector as well. It has already created many opportunities for me to incorporate multimedia into my lessons. Another benefit is that I am able to project activities in advance of the students' arrival to class thereby freeing me up to circulate around the room and help them directly.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mulero

As Americans we live in unpredictable and, more likely, uncertain days. That, however, only begins to describe how we adults feel, let alone my teenage students. I have the daily pleasure of teaching 11th grade American literature to students in the New York City who come from a variety of communities and families representing a variety of backgrounds and needs.
