The sensory equipment is necessary for students with Autism to access their daily educational curriculum. They often seek movements, touch, and pressure throughout their school day. My students like to sit on cushions and therapy balls to feel movement to help keep their bodies and minds alert. Weighted materials help calm their bodies when they get fidgety or overstimulated. Move and sit cushions, weighted lap pads, and other alternative seating strategies help students with sensory needs sit and attend to the classroom lessons. You see immediate changes to their behavior and demeanor when provided with sensory input.
