Small Group Learning About Earth Day and the Environment
Funded May 14, 2024With the generous donations from supporters like you, we've been able to integrate a technology station that brings abstract concepts to life and make learning more interactive and engaging. One of the key implementations has been the use of environmental lab simulations focused on earth and environmental sciences. These simulations allow students to explore complex environmental processes and scenarios that would be impossible to replicate in a traditional classroom setting. By engaging with these simulations, students can conduct virtual experiments, analyze real-time data, and develop a deeper understanding of the impact of human activities on our planet.
Thanks to your contribution, we now have a dedicated station where students can log in to laptops and access these educational applications and websites. I am committed to continuing this approach to teaching for years to come, ensuring that future students will also benefit from these invaluable resources. Thank you once again for your generous support.”

Effective Science Grading and Feedback With a Tech Twist!
Funded Jun 14, 2021Thank you so much for your kind generosity. Thanks to you, I was able to take advantage of all the technology that allowed me to be more effective in my classroom. My students were able to get immediate feedback when turning in their assignments online. With the apple pencil, I was able to write directly on assignments through my iPad in my own writing. This gave students a more personal touch when getting feedback on their work.
In my classroom, students feel valued and a sense that their teacher really takes the time to acknowledge their hard work. The were able to turn in assignments, share their work with other students and know that their work was important and valuable.
Thank you again for making this possible. Your kindness as made a difference in my class!”

Funded Sep 10, 2020My students have been gradually changing learning modalities from online to physical. I have the book corner displayed for them to use during independent work. This has sparked a sort of interest in women who have made contributions in science and math in particular. We even went a bit further and talked about a movie that some students watched at home called "Hidden Figures". We decided to use our TPT funds to download a collage about these women in NASA that helped send man into orbit using, math, engineering and their early programming skills. We made an art collage and displayed it in our hallways during Black History and Women's month in February and March. To go even further, our students participated in a water bottle rocket launch. They designed, created, and launched their own rockets on campus. Many of our female students seem to be more empowered and confident when sharing their rocket observations. It seems we will be getting more females competing in these competitions each year. Thank you donors for your continued support and for making this possible. It's amazing how we started off with a few books and how much we have accomplished since then.”

Funded Feb 9, 2020When our class first received this new MacBook Air laptop, it was intended to be used mainly for Professional Development. But for the past seven weeks we have been away from our classroom due to the global pandemic. During this time, I attended several Distance Learning Professional Development trainings. Luckily, I had my new laptop and brought it home to continue using it not only for professional development but also to communicate with the students.
My students and I meet virtually twice a week on Zoom, which I have installed on the laptop. I am very proud of the way that my students quickly adapted to the new way of learning. This laptop has facilitated my online lessons. As a result, my students have been engaged and continue to learn from home. They are able to share their coding assignments and present projects with their peers. We use many learning platforms online that ensure interactive, scientific, and technological connections to the real world.
My students have benefited greatly from these new systems, and I am sure will continue to benefit as our learning platforms are constantly changing through the use of technology.”
