My students are amazing individuals, they are 7th graders that are stuck between a phase of childhood and adulthood, they struggle daily with who they are and where they are going in their lives. Some express this through anger and some through tears, while others express it with hard work, dedication and drive, showing that they want to do more with their lives. My students come from homes where most only have one parent, usually their mother, they come from homes where they go home to an empty house in the evenings because their parent(s) are at work. Sometimes they come to school with empty bellies and empty hearts. It is not only my responsibility to teach them but to care for them and help them succeed not only in school but in their lives as a whole. I may be one of the few people that really care for my students and I want them to know that I care, not just about their education but about their futures as a whole. I want them to succeed not just today but everyday.
