You Don't Have to Sit Still, Just Learn!
Funded Dec 26, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students are enjoying the hoki stools, also known as wobble seats. They can attend to their work whether it is paper pencil or on their chrome book with the freedom to move. Whether they want to move, need to move, or just like to move, they can move as much as they want. I also enjoy sitting on a hoki stool!
Before this project was granted we had two hoki stools. The students were learning how to take turns with two stools which isn't always easy when you are 7 years old. Now we have enough for a whole table group to have a stool if they choose. When the students walked in and saw the new stools they were very excited. It was all they could talk about that whole morning. Now the choice of sitting on a stool is just a regular part of their day.
Believe it or not, there are students who like to sit still to focus and work. So those students were excited about the lap desks. They use them when they sit on crate stools, chairs, or even the floor.
Our class has had a couple of projects funded now. I was so proud as they began asking me about taking pictures and writing thank you notes for the donors that wanted them. They are learning to be thankful people because of you!”

Shape Up With Geometry
Funded Mar 9, 2016Dear Donors,
My students enjoyed their unit on geometry. We read the literature we received and students are still excited about reading the books on their own. Students created and wrote about shape robots. Students used the solid shapes several times during math lessons. They continue to play a shape attribute game during math rotations.
Teaching with materials that students can get their hands on is so much more enjoyable and applicable than using only paper-pencil lessons. We ended the unit with a shape museum that will be displayed and added to until the end of the school year. Thank you for helping my students enjoy math time!”

Learning Through Technology
Funded Feb 8, 2016We are so fortunate at our school that each child has access to their own chrome book device. We use them everyday to work on reading and math skills. We are also able to work on and share many projects including our writing through the Internet. Students work at their own pace and on the skills they need to master.
The challenge we faced, was when everyone was working, no one could hear their own computer, This made it hard to stay focused and complete assignments. We tried cheap headphones and ear buds only to find that they barely lasted a week. We are beyond grateful for the quality headphones we received from your generous donations. We have been using the headphones and have been very excited. Everyone can now hear their own chrome book and focus on learning rather than on trying to hear. You have made a neat group of kids very happy to work!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Orkin and 6 other donors.Staying Organized!
Funded Oct 18, 2015Thank you all so much for your support with this project! Words cannot express the excitement I have for the impact that this project has made for our classroom. My students were beyond excited to have their very own new seat pocket. Each student has their own personal place to store the materials they need each day.
Now, during the day students have access to all necessary supplies, folders, journals, flashcards, and good behavior slips right on the back of their seats. They can quickly get what they need so class can continue smoothly and we can get more learning accomplished. Students aren't worried about going to their lockers or the supply closet for necessary materials.
It's so nice to see students being more independent and responsible. Students are more independent in getting the daily supplies they need to complete assignments. They are also responsible for keeping their seat pockets neat and orderly.
I would like to say thank you again for helping to make this project happen! You have helped 23 students in my class this year and many more to come in the future. Your generosity has helped us reach our goal!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sample
