  • Strengthening Mind and Body

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations to provide these resources for my students. The sports equipment such as the ladder ball, yoga ball, and balance board have helped my students to become more active and regulate their senses. The math games such as Othello and Read the Clock have strengthened their math skills. The game Telestrations helped the students with creativity and writing. Mancala was a great game as we learned about Kwanzaa and other African traditions.

The students in my class often have sensory and regulation issues and these resources help them manage those with balance and physical activities that the sports equipment provides. The games are a way for the students to strengthen skills like time, strategy, writing, and drawing.”

  • Regulation of Senses and Self

    Funded Jul 25, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project to provide these materials for my students. Hands-on activities help my students learn and make connections to the world around them.

The Scents Sort helps to focus on the sense of smell. The gears help to problem solve and see how materials interact. The board game and Spot books is a way for them to understand their feelings and consequences with real-world examples. The trampoline helps to regulate over-stimulated bodies.

Again, your donation is greatly appreciated.”

  • Bringing the World Into the Classroom

    Funded Jan 24, 2022

Thank you so much for these science materials. The students loved the rotating model of the solar system as we finished our unit on Earth and Space. We have been using the globe as we discuss biomes around the world.

When the materials arrived, it was like Christmas. The students got excited as they saw the different activities and just had to check them out right away.

My students will love exploring the world around them through the microscope and slides, and the hands on cell models. I look forward to using the model of the body as we explore organs and organ systems.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips

  • Good equipment helps us to be healthy, wealthy and wise

    Funded Sep 15, 2020

My students are loving the sports equipment. It gets them outside into the fresh air and helps them to be active. My students get a chance to work on hand-eye coordination through these hands-on activities. They also learn good social skills such as taking turns and good sportsmanship. These sports activities can also reinforce other academic skills such as Math where they keep track of points, Reading as they read the directions, History as we look up how the game came to be, and Science when we learn about Physics and Physical Science.”

  • Books Make Life More Fun

    Funded May 5, 2020

I love reading books aloud to my students to help them understand a concept. The Sir Cumference books are a great way to introduce geometry in a fun way. The students can follow along the adventure and learn difficult concepts such as angles and formulas.

I also like to use books where the main character is an example or non-example of a specific social skill we are learning such as how to follow directions or how to make good choices. Using books help the students to make connections from characters to themselves.

I also have a student who would like to become a detective in the future and the Encyclopedia Brown books are just the thing to peak his interests.

Books are a great way to engage my students in learning.”

  • In Order to Form a More Perfect Student

    Funded Feb 15, 2019

My students were so excited to see the new supplies. They enjoy putting the sequencing pieces in order for these new "puzzles". I have seen a difference these sequencing cards have made with my students for reading, math and social skills. My students are learning that there is an order to things and tasks. My students use the number sequencing cards to help them count. I will continue to use these cards to help my students learn order as it applies to math-related situations. Learning about a sequence can help them organize elements of a story for comprehension questions. My students are learning vocabulary such as 'first', 'next', 'then', and 'finally'. My students can apply this order and vocabulary to when they tell a story. Thank you so much for these sequencing cards.”

  • Stimulating the Senses

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the sensory items that we received. My students just love having the texture squares, the vibrating massage bug, and the various lighted items. We love exploring the world around us through touch, sight, and sound.

My students use these items to help calm down or help the regulate their bodies when they become overstimulated. Some of my students need to stimulate their bodies to become alert and focused on their work. My students love comparing and contrasting the different textures. Thanks so much for your donation.”

  • Experiments and Exploration

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The science supplies from this project have been very useful to us as we explore the world around us. We have learned about animals, body systems, chemistry, and states of matter. We have been able to use these materials for hands-on-activities and lab experiments.

My students just love to get involved in projects, activities, and have fun with new experiences. Items such as a scale helps them compare and contract items. The test tubes are ways for my students to study color changes and chemical changes. Thank you!”

  • Learning To Communicate With Signing Time

    Funded Feb 23, 2017

My students were excited to see the Signing Time Videos. We had great fun watching the videos and learning the signs. We've been practicing using the signs for daily items, food, and tasks. We have seen improvement with communication in our class by using ASL with students who are non-verbal. We have seen an improvement with reading sight words because we can pair them with signing, it just has made reading a more concrete activity.

The Signing Time lessons are fun and engaging and my students have really enjoyed them. Thank you so much for funding this project and providing a fun learning experience for my class.”

  • I've Got the Music in Me to Express

    Funded Dec 16, 2016

My students were so excited to see the music instruments from this project. We have the keyboard set up in the classroom. We have been playing around with the Boomwhackers. As a class we have been learning how to play and take care of the recorders. We have learned 3 notes already!

I love how enthusiastic my students are for Music Monday and the dedication they show as they learn rhythm and tones. Those days are noisy and happy. I love that the students have a chance to express themselves through music. Thanks so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillips
