  • We Need More Leveled Books!

    Funded Dec 14, 2015

When this box of books arrived, you could see the excited look on my students face as soon as the office announced we had a package. I lined the class up and we all went to the office to get the package. As soon as we returned to our classroom. The students were eager to open the box and look at their new books. During Independent reading they were so engaged in their new selection of books I did not hear a sound. I am so grateful for your donations. The students have each grown one reading level and I attribute that to having books on their level. This is one of the best donations I could have ever received.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Evans

  • Special Education Class in Search of Leveled Classroom Books

    Funded Oct 9, 2015

This project has been a great help to our classroom. We are so grateful that you though enough of our class to help us get some necessary supplies. Your act of kindness has created and fostered an environment that allows the boys to increase the skills they need to be successful and confident readers. The Super 7 boys in my class can now independently pick a book at their just right level. The boys are currently working on making sure they can read a book and identify the characters, setting and plot. When books are too far above their level the students are unable to comprehend texts which keeps them from being able to work on these skills. Now when it is time for independent reading the boys know which basket they can quickly grab books from to read at their seats. All of my students enjoy reading the new books in classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Evans

I have seven boys in my class and they all have individual special needs. They all have strengths in different areas, however, reading seems to be the common thread that is lacking. I try to get as many books in their hands as I can but, my classroom library is lacking. This is my first year teaching in this school and the library is what I inherited. My favorite quote is "The Readers of Today Are the Leaders Of Tomorrow." I want my students to develop a love for reading so they have the opportunity to become Leaders.
