  • Aw, Osmo!

    Funded May 13, 2019

My students absolutely love using Osmo! This is a new school year for us and my students request to use the Osmo applications all of the time.

My students are ESL/ELL (English as a Second Language/English Language Learners) and Osmo gives them a chance to practice their English skills using conversational English and it gives them the opportunity to work collaboratively with another student who does not speak the same language, which is not necessarily English.

Your gift is allowing my students to build community, practice English and to problem solve together....all thanks to YOU and Osmo.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

  • Geography Detectives in First Grade!

    Funded Feb 20, 2019

My students absolutely LOVE this game of discovery! They love being able to see and find different clues and geographical landmarks. They are able to build their vocabulary as well as work cooperatively with a partner to find the missing items and solve the case. Thank you for providing this interactive game for my students. Because I teach ESL, this game provides my students the opportunity to 1) use critical thinking skills to really listen for clues, 2) work with a partner to problem solve (collaboration), and 3) practice English skills. Thank you for this invaluable resource!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

  • It All Begins With Organization

    Funded Jan 13, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting my project! I was able to organize my classroom and finally have a place to put all of those "extra" little things that teachers need on an almost daily basis. My students use the toolbox almost as often as I do, retrieving materials such as band-aids, splitters, paper clips and glue sticks. Our classroom life has been made so much easier and efficient with the help of your gift of donated materials. Because I teach ESL, the laminating pouches have come in especially handy because I am able to laminate vocabulary cards and game pieces for extra durability. Without your support, none of these things would be possible. Thank you for your investment in education and the future generations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

  • Sharpening Our Saw with Keva Planks!

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

I am just so thankful and grateful for your donation to our Sharpen the Saw club using Keva planks.

The students, who are in Pre-K through First Grade, were able to work together and make cool objects such as robots, dogs, spiders using a 3D model as well as many other creative items. It was amazing to see the students create even ramps, where they were able to test their creations by rolling Keva balls down the ramps. The students look forward to their club, not only because they are "sharpening their saws", but because they had voice and choice in the club they chose. Thank you for helping them by supporting our club!”

  • ReOrganize Our Reading!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We are grateful for our new book bins. The bins allow the students to choose books and keep the books looking neat and orderly. Students are able to find a book and(with some training) place the books in the bins that they go in. The bins are great colors for a First Grade classroom and add a lot of color to the space. The bins make my students excited about being able to select Good Fit Books that they are able to select themselves and practice Read to Self or Buddy Reading.”

  • ESL Classes Go Full “S.T.E.M” Ahead With IFly!

    Funded Dec 1, 2017

Our students were SO excited to experience this hands-on STEM field trip. We talked about STEM a lot in our classrooms and gave the students an opportunity to create and engineer their own projects. Students received expert lesson from someone who worked at NASA and who explained how skydiving works. The students remembered that "If you make yourself small, you will fall, but if you make yourself BIG, you will fly"! Being ESL students, having hands-on experience crossed the language barriers as well. Not only did students receive a lesson in flight, but they also created parachutes to test their flight theory. Thank you for providing such an awesome learning experience for our children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

  • Dash, Dot and Osmo, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 27, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom! My students have bent really excited discovering what is possible by coding robots that interact with them personally. They are learning how to work together to problem solve and discover all of the things that Dot and Dash can do. Not only have they taught Dash to drive, but they are also learning how to code him to play the xylophone. It amazes me how quickly they are able to learn the coding process and it is a pleasure to watch them as they develop new skills. Thank you for your support of my classroom. It is companies and partnerships such as yours that renew me as a teacher and that help me remember that there are people who truly care about educating young minds.”

    With gratitude,

  • Critical Thinking With Coding!

    Funded Nov 6, 2017

My students are so incredibly excited to have Dash and Dot in our class! I love seeing my students take the robots and figure them out. They were ready to go right out of the box and it was amazing to see how interactive the robots are, but even more amazing is that my students were able figure out how to make Dash do certain things with no guidance from me! Dash and Dot are the first things my students see in the morning and their excitement is contagious. Critical thinking and collaboration are stretching my students thinking AND peer relationships. I am so grateful that your company has made this unique learning experience possible for my kids!”

  • First Grade Readers Are Leaders!

    Funded Oct 19, 2017

The students were SO EXCITED to receive the new book titles! We immediately read "Stick and Stone", which is a great story about friendship and the surprise book was "Creepy Underwear", which the students had been waiting for since reading "Creepy Carrots" in October for Halloween. These books have made my students want to read and develop their reading stamina to be able to read more. Because the majority of my students are ESL, stories are a great way for them to make connections and develop a love for reading. The various genres also broaden the experience of my students, for some activating and building on prior knowledge and for others it's learning something completely new. I focused my selections a lot on cultural books and telling traditional stories such as Cinderella in different ways based on the country they were representing (Africa, China, Ireland) to name a few. Thank you for helping my students grow and have experiences through the books that I am able to read and share with them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

  • Please Help Us Listen and Recharge!

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

Thank you so much for helping my students "recharge" and listen. Having a recharging station in my classroom continues to help my students be responsible for materials because we are learning how to be leaders in our classroom. I no longer have to remind students about where to put our electronics when they have finished using them. I also have a Technology Leader in class who is responsible for charging our tablets. It is great to see the pride and care that is now taken because of your donation. Students now have access to more kid friendly headphones that allow them to focus more on lessons that require using technology. Thank you for supporting us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. W.

My students are fabulous first graders! We are a Title I, high poverty school, where 70% of our students receive free lunch. Many of our ESL students also have refugee status. My students are excited about learning and are eager to explore new ideas and concepts.
