It is with great gratitude that our class has accepted this amazing gift of magazines. Every time I pass out the magazines to the students they get so excited. I have many students that are struggling readers and they love to read the articles written for Scholastic Magazine. Not only did we get the gift of Scholastic News but we also were able to get the Dynamath series which was a fun and interactive way for them to practice not only math skills but also reading.

Some lessons that were introduced to use these new texts was using the Scholastic News to complete weekly current events. These current events really helped them in preparing them for their state writing tests. They were able to summarize information from the articles which was very similar to how we prepared them to take the writing test. The Dynamath was great for small groups and the students enjoyed the challenge of each article along with the math concepts that were being asked. Another thing that I really liked which did not know was included in the Scholastic News were the posters that would come in with some bundles. For example, we got grammar and main idea posters that helped them learn more about that reading or language arts strategies.
