Becoming a Writer Using Writing Workshop

Funded Nov 15, 2015

Thank you so much for your donation toward my project. I teach my students to write narrative, expository and opinion writing throughout the year. Having great writing samples is essential to their success. I purchased many mentor texts that did just that!

These books were great examples on "how to write," and inspired them to become talented writers. I used books like, "My Father's Hands," to teach descriptive writing. "Bug-a-licious" as a great example of an expository writing, as well as "A Fine, Fine School," to introduce opinion writing. These are just a couple of examples of the books I was able to purchase with your donation.

This year is just the beginning! I am sharing these books with my fourth grade team so about one hundred students are improving their writing skills this year. Now that I have a great collection of mentor texts, we can use these books each year. Fourth graders at Peter Kirk will benefit from your donation for many years.

Thank you so much for your friendship and kindness.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Lotz
