I teach a group of lively, active, and motivated kindergartners. They enjoy watching me model what an effective reader looks like and sound like. After I model effective reading skills, my students thrive on going to the reading center to read the books I have recently read. My school is a Title One School where 100% of the students receive free lunch. My school lacks the necessary funds to purchase a wide variety of materials teachers would need to promote effective teaching and learning. However, differentiated instruction is inevitable in improving the teaching and learning for preparing students in becoming successful in college and careers.
