My Computer Science classroom will engage every student at our school prior to graduation. All seniors at South Bronx Preparatory take either my AP Computer Science or Intro to Programming class. We serve all students, including students with IEPs and students designated as Multi-lingual learners in both courses. We have celebrated the fact that we have earned the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award in three of the last four years. In AP CSP students learn key concepts across digital information, the Internet and cyber security, and also programming in JavaScript, ultimately building Apps throughout the year. In Intro to Programming, students explore the p5.js library for creating animations, visualizations and games. The course culminates in an animated short film festival in which student teams tell their own personal stories through this engaging medium!
