  • Writing is Fundamental!

    Funded Apr 18, 2024

My students are making excellent progress in their phonetic spelling skills using the materials you so graciously provided with your donations.

We use the materials everyday and each student has their own kit. We are able to use the foam magnetic shapes to segment words by sound then students break it down by writing the letter or letter team that matches the sound using the white board and markers.

These items have provided an amazing method in which to not only practice daily but also the ability for myself to give a quick assessment of their skills and to re-direct them as needed. Their spelling growth has been amazing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bechler

  • Recess Release

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

As a large Title I school in an urban city; all students cannot safely play on the playground during recess and our school does not have the funds nor the fund raising ability at this time to build more and bigger playgrounds so we have various recess locations and imagination can only take us so far.

The materials that your kindness provided has allowed my students with numerous items that help to get them moving during recess without using each other in wrestling and tackling!

There faces lit up as I unpacked the boxes and conversation immediately began on how they would be using the items during recess and so far it has been an exciting success!”

  • Reading is a Science

    Funded Dec 21, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind generosity! My students were so excited to come to small groups to read in their chapter books Dog on a Log and actually have the books in their hands! I had been making copies of necessary pages but when they each had their own copy their enthusiasm to read was turned up a notch!

These books are carefully designed around the Science of Reading to create books that students can use learned phonics skills to decode the words; not just have words memorized. Additionally these books increase in skill level from beginning to end so as students are reading through the chapters they are increasing their skills.

It has been magical watching them establish the power to read independently!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bechler

  • Hearing Positively

    Funded Dec 20, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind generosity! Students were so excited to receive headphones for use during technology time. Many students bring their own headphones to school but some do not have the resources available.

Students having their own headphones really reduces the amount of noise in the classroom so that we are able to be focused and concentrated during small group instructional time as well as allowing students working on individualized work are able to complete work without distractions.

Additionally, items just allow a more pleasant and less over stimulating environment!”

  • Learning Is Cozy

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

It is often the small things that can make a huge impact! When I received the light covers and started putting them up the students exclaimed about how pretty the lights were and how exciting it was to have stars in our room! I have personally benefited from not having those harsh electric lights> I am unable to turn them off as our windows are small and it becomes too dark for the students to do their work but it was overstimulating to me. I feel it was also overstimulating to some of my students but they are just too young to verbalize the same feelings.

Next day came the stools and when I pulled my first small group they cheered about how comfortable they were and how much easier they were to get on then my previous adult sized stools.

I thank you so much for your generosity and contribution to making my classroom a positive learning environment.”

  • Learning Is Cozy

    Funded Nov 12, 2023

Upon bringing in the new carpet my students were beyond excited just to see the delivery of such a big package. Once I opened it and rolled it out they exclaimed about how beautiful it looked and how exciting it would be to work on the floor.

Every day since receiving the carpet they have been asking to do work on the floor; spreading out on their stomachs and backs!

Additionally and strangely the carpet has just brought a coziness to the room especially during these frigid days. It is just so much nicer than decades old tiled floors.

I appreciate your generosity and kindness in giving to my project and helping to support my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bechler

  • Phonics Phenoms

    Funded Aug 11, 2023

My students have really found the fun in learning with these items. Learning is best done with hands-on items that provide a tactile experience not just black numbers and words on a flat piece of white paper. Concrete understanding comes from concrete items. Technology is amazing but nothing can replace old fashioned learning through exploration.

This project was all about increasing student fluency and sand timers are such a fun way to increase this as students challenge themselves to beat the timer as they read correctly and smoothly. The decodable cards are fun and another way for students to increase fluency through practice; as well these cards can be used by students independently or in small groups with my guidance. An additional bonus is that they also save me so much time from having to find and print fluency passages or create my own. I love them and so do the students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bechler

  • Game On For Learning

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

My students have really found the fun in learning with these items. Learning is best done with hands-on items that provide a tactile experience not just numbers and words on a flat piece of paper. Concrete understanding comes from concrete items. Technology is amazing but nothing can replace old fashioned learning through exploration.

Using the Zingo games have provided my students the opportunities to learn sight words, identify numbers and practice addition independently while I am working with small groups. Additionally the burger sequencing game has assisted with skills needed for math and literacy. Furthermore the magnetic ten frames has allowed students to practice a new adding and subtracting strategy while the tweezers help those fine motor muscles needed for writing!”

    Mrs. Bechler

  • The Phonics of Reading

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

My students are loving the ability to practice phonics skills not just on their ability level but independently during classroom workstation time. The materials provided them with more than just a worksheet but actual fun, interesting hands-on materials. Students have been engaged and inspired to work with these materials.

Additionally, these phonics items have my students on a positive path to learning to read and write with success. I am excited to continue with them on this journey as I am able to rotate through the materials increasing their engagement and excitement!”

    With gratitude,

  • Hands-on Math for Fun Learning!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

My students were so thrilled to see me open the boxes and were anxious to get their hands on the new materials!

The math materials have been used every day to support their growth in math fluency. These materials are also the best at keeping them engaged and excited about their learning.

These differentiated math materials have also been extremely beneficial and effective in providing leveled learning for students so that the work they are doing is personalized to their needs. These items are used by all students despite their level of math learning.

I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,
