Science Literacy
Funded Nov 20, 2024I cannot emphasize enough how much I and my students appreciate your generosity. Your donations will enable my students to be actively engaged in learning science and becoming science literate citizens in an ever changing world. This is an amazing way to start my project and my students will be thrilled! Thank you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Gates Foundation and 2 other donors.Homeostasis in Action
Funded Apr 1, 2020I would really like to thank you for supporting my Lab activity at FLC. I have to apologize though because we have not been back in the classroom since March of 2020. I promise that as soon as we are allowed back we will be doing this activity and many more. When we do the activity I will take pictures and submit them here. Thank you for your support of our children and STEM in the classroom. It is donors like you that have allowed children in poor and underserved communities to experience hands on science in the classroom.”

EXPLORING SCIENCE AND PLANT GERMINATION
Funded Nov 8, 2016My students and I really appreciate your generous donations to the Dobbins CTE science students and community. Your donations have allowed my students to experience hands on scientific investigations that, unfortunately, they would not have experienced otherwise. Many of my children have had limited exposure to science, and the scientific method in their in their K-8 program. Their first exposure to science is frequently at the high school level. Even at the high school level budget constraints sometimes prevent experimentation. I hope with their exposure to science and the scientific method my students will develop the skills necessary to question and explore their world. To understand that we need evidence, gained through experimentation to better understand our planet. With a rapidly changing environment students really need to understand the need for science and scientific understanding. Thank you for giving them this chance.”

Eukaryotic Cell Lab
Funded Sep 10, 2015My students and I would like to thank you for your very thoughtful donations to our class. Because of your generosity we were able to obtain the materials necessary to perform a eukaryotic cell Lab. The students observed stained and unstained onion cells, onion cells in a salt solution (plasmolysis), human cheek cells, paramecium, euglena and Daphnia (which is a microscopic, multi-cellular eukaryotic organism). They loved seeing (and in some cases were horrified to see) hundreds of microscopic organisms in a drop of water. No matter how frequently you try to convey to students that cells are small and hundreds can exist in a small amount of solution, there is nothing like seeing them alive and well, swimming in a drop of water. Thank You!”
