  • Eyes on the Prize With These School Supplies

    Funded Jul 27, 2020

Thanks to all of your donations, my classroom is filled with supplies that help my students stay organized. Thanks to the folders, notebooks, cleaning supplies, and crayons you donated to our classroom my students have everything they need to succeed this year.

The New York City Department of Education suffered tremendous budget cuts due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was no longer possible for our school to provide the learning materials they had in previous years. Thanks to all of you, I was able to supply all the materials that my students needed this school year. This project helped to alleviate the financial burden to families during this difficult time. Thank you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spector

  • Distance Learning Care Package

    Funded May 15, 2020

After noticing that many students didn't have access to supplies such as gloves and masks, you came to the rescue. After hearing that they did not have access to the proper school supplies needed for remote learning, you were there to save the day. Thanks to all of you, we were able to provide each child with supplies, such as physical books to read to give them a break from the computer screen, and art materials. But most importantly, I you supplied their families with PPE so that they felt safe when they went outside to get food.

Thank you for always support my students. Your generosity truly made a huge difference in their lives.”

  • You've Got Mail

    Funded Jun 5, 2020

I can't thank you enough for your donations to this project. After fundraising enough money to purchase the items for the summer care packages, I realized I needed to continue raising money for the shipping costs. I wanted to get all the materials shipped to my house so I could arrange a personal care package for each student and attach a hand written card.

Thanks to all of you, I was able to ship 30 care packages to my students in the Bronx.

Your generosity allowed me to deliver these packages in the mail to avoid the spread of Covid-19. Additionally, with the left over stamps I was able to be pen pals with my students over the summer!

I am forever grateful for your donations to this project. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Spector

  • A Book a Day Keeps the Bully Away

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I am so grateful to each and every one of you for your generous donations. My kids are going to be thrilled when they see these amazing books arrive! I remember reading these classics as a kid and I am so honored to have the opportunity to share them with my students. Students learn best from role models. These are the perfect books to set positive examples of friendships and loving communities. These books teach students to stand up for others and to speak up when they see bullying. Thank you for supporting public education.”

  • Wobble While You Work

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I can't thank you enough for your donations to this project. I have so many wiggly students this year that focus exponentially better on their new flexible seating cushions. Some of the cushions have been assigned to certain students permanently, while other cushions are used as part of our table points reward system. Without your help I would not have been able to supply this much needed support to my students. I am grateful to each and every one of you for helping my students be the best learners they can be!”

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom this fall. Thanks to you we have a beautiful new double sided easel that makes teaching and learning easy and organized! Now my students are able to come up to the front of the room and write on the easel with dry erase markers to show the class their thinking and strategies. I am able to organize my anchor charts and store them for future lessons or review. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and your willingness to give to our classroom community!”

  • The Printer Project

    Funded Aug 23, 2017

Thank you so much for supporting my students with your generous donation to my Printer Project. Having access to technology in the classroom is crucial in today's world. We often create and solve puzzles in computer science and thanks to our new color ink we are able to print them out and display them in our classroom. Additionally, we can put up anchor charts to help students remember strategies in math, science and writing. Your gift to the Printer Project is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.”

The majority of my students live in the Bronx and are within walking distance from our school. They are all learning English as a second or a third language and some of them are new to the country. These students are six and seven years old and the thing they need most from me is affection. They are brilliant, sensitive and exited to be in school. The thing I enjoy most about my job is seeing how supportive my students are to each other. For example, when I call on a student and they really do not know the answer, I allow them to "phone a friend." They put their hand up to their ear, miming that they are on the phone and then call on a classmate's raised hand to help them answer the question. The classmate that they called on then puts up their pretend phone to their ear and answers the question for the class. Seeing them work together and support each other's learning is the best part of my job.
