We are a class of energetic and cognitively challenged students. We struggle with gross and fine motor skills as well as speech challenges and are learning to do the things other students take for granted. Several of us have genetic disorders, seizure disorders and/or processing disorders. Others of us have challenges due to our birth circumstances and some of us are even cancer survivors! We are a Small Group Life Skills classroom of 13 students, one teacher and 2 para professionals. Each student spends a small block of time daily, with their regular ed peers with support from our para professionals. We love our school and the support we received from our principal and regular ed teachers is wonderful. Our school has about 850 students in grades K-6. We learn core academics in our small group class so that we can work at our own speed and make sure that we are mastering our goals.
